Author's note: This story is set exactly one year after the season 3 episode 'Don't go break my tooth' where Miley is afraid to go to the dentist alone.
Time to grow up!
Miley Stewart is in her room, getting dressed.
"Mile, time to go to the dentist!" says Robby Ray as he enter his daughter's room.
"That's today?" says Miley.
"Yeah! Told ya this mornin' while we were eatin' bacon and eggs, bud." says Robby Ray. "Still scared are ya?"
"Yes! Dang it! I'm such a fuckin' wimp!" says Miley.
"Come on, Miles! You're not a wimp! You're my strong and mature daughter. I believe in ya! Today you'll be able to do this all by yourself, without me holdin' your hand." says Robby Ray.
"Really? You're sure? Don't forget about last year! I made this big freakin' deal about goin' to the dentist alone and ended up breakin' me tooth on TV in front of thousands of people." says Miley, who look very sad and scared.
"That was last year. You're a year older and you've become much more like an adult since then. Everything's gonna be okey, bud!" says Robby Ray as he give Miley a hug.
"Thanks for the support, daddy!" says Miley as she try to smile.
"Now, get down to the car and drive over there and get those teeth checked up!" says Robby Ray.
"Sure ya don't wanna come along...just to make sure I don't chicken out again?" says Miley.
"There's no need for that, Miles! You're a big girl who is strong enough to handle this." says Robby Ray.
"Okey..." says Miley as she grab her handbag and walk out to her car.
"Don't be such a damn wimp, Miley! You're Hannah freakin' Montana!" says Miley to herself as she drive to the dentist's office, in an attempt to boost her own confidence.
"Miley! Doctor Hammond's waiting for you!" says a nurse as Miley enter the waiting-room at the dentist's clinic.
"Hammond...? What happened to Reynolds?" says Miley.
"You're not a little kid anymore. It's time for you to go to a dentist for grown ups now. Doctor Hammond's an outstanding dentist." says the nurse, named Lana according to her name-tag.
"Don't be such a wimp, Smiley Miley!" says Miley as she enter the dentist's office.
"Hello, miss Stewart! My name's Doctor Frank Hammond and I'm your dentist today. Let's see..." says Doctor Hammond. "Okey, just a regular check-up."
"Let's get started then..." says Miley as she take her place in the chair.
"Relax, Miley! This won't hurt one bit." says Doctor Hammond.
Half an hour later Miley is in her car on the way back home. She made it through the whole thing at the dentist and didn't cry at all. She just sat there like a mature adult.
"That wasn't so bad..." says a happy Miley to herself.
"Welcome home, Miley!" says Robby Ray as Miley walk through the door.
"Hi, daddy!" says Miley.
"So...? How did it go?" says Robby Ray.
"Just fine, dad! I made it, all alone without you!" says a very happy Miley. "YAY!"
"Well done, bud! I'm happy and very very proud of ya!" says Robby Ray.
"Thanks, daddy!" says Miley in a soft voice.
"I knew you'd do it this time! So...I bought you a gift." says Robby Ray. "Here ya go, Mile!"
Robby Ray hands Miley a new cell phone.
"Wow! A new phone. Thanks!" says Miley.
"You're a big girl now! I thought ya might wanna have a big girl's phone..." says Robby Ray with a smile.
"Thanks a lot, dad!" says Miley as she give her dad a hug.
"No problem, bud!" says Robby Ray.
