(A/N: I was reading a magazine about writing, and it had writing prompts. One of them was to write a letter to an author who writes about characters you like, but not to send it. I misread it, and I thought it was telling me to write a letter to a character. And then I thought about a character writing to another character. And this fic was born. Enjoy!)

Letter

Nessa found the folded letter while cleaning out drawers. She had always been extremely curious, so she couldn't help but take a look at it.

She recognized Boq's messy handwriting as soon as she began reading.

Nessa,

I am leaving. I don't care what you say or how much you beg for me to stay. I can't stand it anymore. I'm sick of you acting like this. What happened to the Nessa-

And that's where the letter stopped. Nessa was shocked. Boq was never this bold—he usually just went along with everything Nessa said.

Nessa checked the date on the half-finished letter. It was from a while ago.

That's my Boq, Nessa thought wistfully. Always chickening out at the last minute. But she was glad he hadn't given her the letter—this way, she got to keep Boq with her. But she was going to ask him about it anyways, just to make sure he wasn't going to leave.

"Boq?" she called, knowing he would come running to her.

"Yes, Madame?" Boq rolled his eyes as he walked into the room.

"What's this?" she held the letter up for him to see.

"O-Oh," he sputtered. "Th-That—where'd you find that?"

"The drawer over there."

"I thought I threw it away," Boq muttered to himself. "It's n-nothing. Just…a letter."

"A letter to me," Nessa observed.

"Y-Yeah. I-I was just trying to make my handwriting better."

Nessa's eyes narrowed, knowing that Boq was lying. "It's not working." She crumpled up the paper and threw it at Boq.

"L-Look, N-Nessa, I-I'm s-sorry." Boq's stuttering grew worse. "I-I thought—"

"It doesn't matter what you thought, Boq," Nessa told him. "Apology not accepted."

(A/N: My goal was to write 175 stories by the end of summer, and this is my 175th story, and school starts tomorrow. So I've achieved my goal. Reviews are love!)
