Videl stared out into the open landscape. The wind was blowing gently and the birds were singing high up in the sky. And she couldn't be happier, because today was her day. Today, she would speak the truth.

As she hauled herself up off the tartan rug she glanced at her surroundings. Green fields encircled her. They were almost like patch work, criss-crossing at random intervals. But the one thing that really stood out to her was the amazing lake. The water trickled softly as it ran down hill, she love the sound and everything about it. It was shaded a soft blue that changed suddenly whenever the sun hit it. She bent down to the water edge and ran her hand through the liquid below.

But before she knew it a dark shadow covered her view. She recognised the spiky hair and broad shoulders and smiled.

"I hope you're not trying to sneak up on me."

"No of course not. I would never do that." She turned round and grinned at the face before her as he bent down to offer her his hand.

"Thankyou." She rose up to her normal size though this was no where near to the height of friend, Son Gohan.

Gohan had been for friend for some time now. Pretty much ever since she found out that he was half saiyan, half-human. And so she bribed him into training her and teaching her how to fly, one of his many skills. Because he and no choice in the matter he had to accept this offer in exchange for her keeping the secret of his powers as the rest of his families too.

"So are you ready for your first lesson?" He murmured.

He may be good-looking, thought Videl, but he's as timid as hell.

"You bet I am."

So they started. Gohan of course being a pro at this sort of thing forgot to explain some of the simpler ways to show her how to fly. So Videl, being Videl, decided that she was going to be extremely stubborn. So for the majority of the afternoon she sat there with her arms and legs crossed refusing to listen to a word that Gohan said.

He was just about to give up when he heard Videl sobbing to herself.

"I'll never be able to do it." She wiped a tear from her cheek; "It's impossible!" And before he could stop her she ran off into the trees near by.

"Nimbus…!" By his call a cloud appear at his side. "Come on, we have to find her."

So he searched. Searched half into the night and when he finally found her she was covered in mud and soaked from the rain.

"Videl are you okay?" He asks as he landed softly a few yards away.

"What…yeah I suppose."

"Look here have my jacket." Before waiting for an answer he wrapped the blue blazer around her shoulders and then lowered himself to sit next to her on the ground.

"Gohan, I'm such a screw up."

"Your not, why would you say that?"

"Because I am, it's the truth. Look at my life. I'm not smart, my family hates me…"

"You are smart. And your dad certainly doesn't hate you."

"No?"

"No…look your great. I for one admire you. You're loyal, kind, and brave. It's more than anyone would want."

Slowly Videl raised her head from her knees and watched Gohan through her long, black hair.

"Do you really mean it?"

"Of course I do. You're the greatest person I know or have ever met."

They smiled widely at each other, gazing into each other's eyes.

"Thankyou." She whispered before leaning in for a kiss.
