Disclaimer: I don't own Monk and I don't own Natalie

After a particularly rough day, Adrian Monk felt discouraged.

"I'm such a coward," he said with exaggeration.

"No," Natalie said firmly, "Mr. Monk you are a lot of things but a coward is not one of them"

"It's true," Monk moaned, "I'm a coward. I let my fear get the better of me"

Natalie shook her head.

"No it's not true," she insisted.

"How do you know," Monk asked.

"Because, because, because, because, because-"

"What is this," Monk said, "The wizard of Oz?"

Natalie looked him in the eye.

"Mr. Monk I am going to prove to you that you are not a coward"

"If you can do that I'll give you a…$5.00 a day raise"

Natalie bit back a sarcastic comment.

"You like your wipes right," Natalie asked

Monk looked at her.

"Of course"

"You don't like milk right"

Monk pretended to gag.

"Now lets say that an angel came down from heaven and stated that if you could go for a week, drinking a glass of milk every day and not using your wipes for a week you could have Trudy back what would your response be"

"I… I would do anything to get her back," Monk said

"But you're afraid of milk," Natalie replied playing devil's advocate.

"It doesn't mater," Monk replied, "I can drink a glass of milk a day. Heck for her I can drink 10 glasses of milk a day."

"And your wipes?"

"I am scared of germs sure," Monk said, "but I would trade my wipes in, in a heart-beat if I could have her returned to me"

"Really now?"

"Yes. Absolutely, positively, unequivocally without a doubt- and I would do the same thing if it could restore your husband back to you"

Natalie started to tear up touched by that show of pure love her friend had just shown.

"Natalie?"

"Anyone who would do that for just a friend-"

"You're not just a friend," Monk said, "You're my best friend"

Natalie hugged him and for once he didn't use a wipe.

"Hopeful there," she smiled and he laughed feeling a lot better.

"Natalie," he said, "Remember that $5.00 raise?"

"Yeah," Natalie said cautiously

"Make it $10.00 a day instead of $5. You really made me feel 100% better"

"I love you," she told him, "You're my best friend"
