Time Stop: I'm sorry, but I don't own Legend of Zelda

Chapter 1: The Three Goddesses

Link could no longer understand what was happening. First was Ganondorf. That bastard was easy to kill. Then was Gannon. It was only with Zelda's help that he won that fight. And now Gannondorf.

A sneak attack against his back, knocking him off the island…that dick! He glanced up, to the island of rock so far above him now. If he only had something to latch onto, he could use his Longshot to grab hold and pull him to safety.

He glanced at the Master Sword. "Damn it! Why now! I was so close!" He shouted. "I've killed so many, and now this? Damn it!"

He only felt anger and betrayal. Turning, he resided himself to his fate and faced the lava rapidly approaching him from below.

Link landed hard in a brilliant blue chamber. It was the Sacred Realm. He glanced about. There was no one around, at least that he could see.

"Hello?" He called out. "Sages?" He still ached all over from the previous battle. He slowly got up, favoring leg over the other. "Hello?"

He was sure he had fallen to his death. He was sure he had died. Then why was he in such a familiar place? Why did he hurt still? The Master Sword was laying on the ground, just out of reach. He walked over to it, and looked at it.

"Some help you were." He muttered. He slipped the sword back into its sheath.

"Link," a familiar voice said to him. Link turned and before him stood Rauru. The aged sage of light was leaning on a staff, and his breath was ragged.

"Rauru! What happened to you!?" Link rushed to the sage, and caught him as he fell. His face was pale, and his hands shook as he touched Link's face.

"The other sages and I, we, sacrificed our lives to save you, to bring you here." Rauru said, and his eyes glazed over.

"Seriously!" Link shouted. "Now what! How am I supposed to kill that bastard now!"

A flash of light temporarily blinded Link, and he turned toward it when he could see again. It was the triforce. No, that couldn't be it. The triforce resided in himself, Zelda, ad Gannondorf. It must be a symbol of it.

"I put myself through hell to do what you wanted. And now this? Curse you! Damn you to hell!"

"Now that isn't very nice to say." It was a booming voice. Or…voices? It was at least three people speaking as one.

"Who—"

"Who else?" The triforce glowed as the words came out. "Din, Naryu, and Farore."

"The Godesses." Link breathed out. "Holy shit."

"Watch your language. You are in the presence of the very creators of Hyrule."

"Yeah, well, fat luck that does for me." Link clenched his hands into fists. "I died, and failed. Gannondorf reigns on. We lost. Hello? The good side lost."

"First off. You never died. If you did then you'll be on Death's boat." The golden triangles remarked. "Secondly, we still have influence over Hyrule. We can't manipulate directly, but we can aid our sages. We aided Rauru and the other sages to help bring you here."

"And that does what for me? We lost."

"That doesn't sound like the man who hold the triforce of courage." The Goddesses remarked cooly.

"You try facing an entire army on your own!"

"How about this. Do you want a second chance?"

"What?"

"Clearly you don't want to lose. You hold the triforce of courage. Either all of Hyrule are scared pussy cats or you are truly a hero. Which is it?"

"A hero." Link puffed out his chest. "I think."

"Then as a hero, you think, we give you another chance. Would you rather go back to fight Gannondorf right now, as you are? Or do you want to go back in time, back to the very beginning. Back to before Navi even met you. And then, redo everything again."

Navi! Link had forgotten all about his fairy! He patted down his shoulders and checked behind him. He even took of his hat and looked in there. "Where is she?"

"Safe."

Behind Link was Navi. She was stuck behind his shield, listening very intently. What would he choose?

"So I could go back to fight Gannondorf, or back to the beginning?"

"Yes."

"Then back to the beginning." Link decided. "I need Navi. She's always kept a level head on me."

Navi almost snorted. A level head, Link? He was hot headed and difficult. He was truly a monster when it came to combat. But if he went back in time now, and redid everything, just to be with her…that truly touched her heart.

"Just two things." The goddesses warned. "The first is that you must not tell anyone about this. If you do, it will disrupt the balance of nature."

"Alright. What's the second one?"

"Everyone in this room will remember everything that has transpired. Us and only us."

Link nodded. "Sounds good to me. Send me back."

The winds started to blow. It felt like he was in Farore's wind again. He saw the faint shapes of three beautiful women, and then he fell to the ground.

He woke back up in a familiar place. He was home. Everything was exactly the way it was, the sun shone onto the green grass, and the melody of the waterfall could faintly be heard. It was peaceful. He sighed. He then saw a familiar ball of light, bouncing on the bed next to him.

"Link! Hey, get up, Link! The Great Deku Tree wants to talk to you!" The fairy said. She steadied herself above his head. Link rose, only then remembering he was ten years old again.

"Hi...who are you?" Link asked. He almost said 'Hi Navi' and he knew that if he did that one thing would lead to another, leading to disrupting the balance of nature, whatever that was.

"I am Navi, the Great Deku Tree told me to bring you to him."

"Oh, well then, I guess we better get going."

He felt a lot more peaceful than before. A lump of excitement lodged itself in his gut. The memories of the past haunted him, and he hesitated before taking his first step. Now that he was here, where he was most at peace, he shuddered to see what he could have been. He didn't want that. Not this time.

Link started walking outside to the ladder. Below, a girl his age with forest green hair was running to his house. He stopped to regard her before he remembered. It was Saria. The last time he had seen her was...back in Gannondorf's castle.

He quickly dispelled the mental image. He didn't want to think of that kind of stuff. He waved his hand in greeting and he climbed down the ladder. "Wow, is that a fairy?" Link nodded his head as Navi floated nearby. "I can't believe you finally got one! Anyways, I heard a rumor that the Great Deku Tree wanted to speak with you."

Link half-smiled, "I know, Navi summoned me to talk to him."

Saria's smile faded. "You mean that Navi isn't yours?" Link nodded his head sadly. The one thing all Kokiri children had were fairy guides. Link didn't have a fairy. He knew why if no one else did, because he figured it out when he was examining himself when talking to Rauru for the first time. It was then he figured he wasn't a Kokiri, but a Hylian.

Saria scowled, something she almost never did. "You're going to have a hard time meeting the Great Deku Tree. Mido is blocking the way, and absolutely is preventing anyone to pass without a Deku Shield or the Kokiri Sword. I don't know where you would find the sword, but I think it's by the training area somewhere. Besides, the Deku Shield is forty rupees. No one in here has that kind of money, except perhaps Mido, but he won't give it up."

Link's face faulted, and he sighed. "Thanks Saria, I'll try to find them if that is what it takes."

"I'll be by the bridge if you need help, or if you want to talk," Saria said, before she started off. He turned, and headed up to the training grounds. At the grounds a couple of Kokiri were busy back flipping, or throwing rocks. But most were talking and relaxing. Since the danger hasn't come up yet, this place was really a meeting place, where most of the Kokiri stayed.

Link noticed many of his old friends. But he didn't see Mido or Saria. He did not see the shopkeeper, Wes, but that was normal since Wes would stay at the shop till it closed. Link found an old hole, and searching his memory he remembered that this was the way to go to receive the Kokiri sword.

Link crawled into the tight hole, and popped up at the other side. Link waited for the boulder to roll past, before he slipped through the maze. Soon enough he reached the chest containing the sword. Grabbing it, he swung it around to get the feel of it.

He smiled; this was going to be easy. "Link," Navi fluttered nearby his head, before climbing under his cap.

"Yeah?"

"We have to find forty rupees before we can buy the Deku Shield. That way we can pass this Mido person and talk to the Great Deku Tree."

"Right, but how are we going to find that money?" Link mused. "Saria said that Mido might have the money, let's go and check his house to see if he has any." Link knew already that the money was there. He found it after he spent hours cutting grass for spare rupees. He still remembered his frustration when he did all of that work for nothing.

Climbing back through the hole, Link made his way over to the house closest to the shop. He quickly entered, before Mido, who was nearby, could spot him. Link smirked as he opened the chests containing the rupees. Payback was sweet. Soon he had just enough rupees to pay of Wes.

Link entered the shop, and soon paid off Wes, who gladly gave over a Deku Shield. Link threw a couple of attacks at the air outside the shop. His form could be better, he had to get used to being a kid again, but he would soon get back in the swing of things. He sat down by the water's edge to drink, and listened to the waterfall as he caught his breath.

Things were peaceful, and just going as they had before. If he played his cards right, he wouldn't have to worry much—

A shriek cut off his thoughts. It sounded like…Saria! Forgetting everything else, Link ran to the source of the shriek. He heard pounding of footsteps behind him and he glanced behind to see Mido and the rest of the Kokiri following him. Before the path to the bridge stood Aston, he was given orders by the Great Deku Tree to let no one in and out, except for Saria.

"Halt, no one can pass."

Mido stomped his foot. "Aston, someone has to help Saria, let me through!"

Aston looked over at him. "I'm sorry Mido, but if there is danger then you can't pass." He paused and looked over Link. "If it is anyone it is Link."

Mido too looked over Link. "What!? You have a Deku Shield, and the Kokiri Sword? Well-but…fine! Go quickly!" Link nodded before rushing past Aston, heading into the tunnel. Mido was bossily giving orders to return to what they were doing. They listened because Mido was the biggest and the strongest, but he was also a loudmouth, so they did do grudgingly.

At the bridge Link had his sword and shield already out and it looked like he needed it. Before him was a cloaked figure, around his height, and Saria who was bodily keeping him back. Link rushed in and attacked the masked figure.

Surprisingly fast the enemy moved back, and knocked Saria to the side. Link waded in, using expert techniques that he had learned in his previous life. The cloaked man was good, but not good enough. Despite the fact that he had two long daggers as weapons, he disarmed him and tied him up against the bridge.

Link turned. "Are you all right?" Saria nodded.

"Link, behind you!" Saria warned. Link half turned, and saw the figure use his feet to grip a long dagger, before flicking it at his head. Before he could put up his shield the pommel struck him in the head.

This hadn't happened before.
