"Oh, come on! Don't be that way!" said Sokka sadly as he looked down in her big, brown eyes. She grunted.
"You know I love you! But Katara would never allow, you know that!" said Sokka painfully. He clutched his green handbag tightly, its fabric settled in the palm of his hand. He attempted to look away, but instead, he put a hand on her head.
"Katara would never allow what?" asked a familiar voice. Sokka dug his short finger nails into her hair and he moved it about slowly. She grunted once more in appreciation.
"For me to keep her, Toph!" groaned Sokka. The young earthbender walked to his side and patted his shoulder thoughtfully.
"Who is she?" asked Toph, trying to hide her true feelings from Sokka. In truth, she hadn't really needed to mask her voice and face from emotions, because Sokka was totally oblivious to her. All he wanted was..
"Ling, that's her name.. Ling." said Sokka admiringly.
"What about Suki?" asked Toph angrily. She made fake, sloppy sounding kissing noises in the background.
"What in the world do you think I'm talking about?" said a bewildered Sokka.
"Another girl in your life.." snorted Toph. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and looked away from him with her sea foam green eyes.
"Another one?" cut in a voice.
"Aang, you don't understand!" said Sokka. He held his finger in the air, making it look like he was going to start a lecture.
"Aw! She's so cute!" said Aang cheerfully. He walked up the cobblestone street and patted Ling's head. Toph began to grumble a series of words, that either of the boys could not make out.
"Cute? I'll give you cute.. She's... Stupid.. Sokka and Aang... I'll.. Pummel her.. She's nothing... Compared to me!" Toph said something along the lines of this under her breath.
"I want to buy her, but.." started Sokka.
"BUY HER?" shouted Toph. Aang put a hand over her mouth, but she bit it.
"Yes, buy her.." said a frightened Sokka. A small growl was emitted from the left, somewhere.
"You're wondering if Katara approves? You should be wondering about me! You've done some pretty stupid things in your life, but this has to be the.." said Toph, but she was cut off by a voice.
"Toph, I thought that you liked animals!" said Aang.
"What?" asked a confused Toph.
"Ling's just a harmless little baby rabbiroo... Who might I say, is very cute indeed!" said Sokka. He scratched under Ling's floppy ear, making her thump her huge foot on the ground.
"Ohh..." said Toph. She rubbed the top of her head with her small hand. She blushed furiously.
"I have to go!" she said, then she rushed away into the crowds of a crowded street in Ba Sing Se.
"What's her problem?" asked Sokka. Aang shook his head in amazement. The opposite sex was always so confusing!
