Addison walked hurriedly down the long corridor down in the tunnels. She needed time alone FAST. Not only was she hating Christmas day, her formally favorite day of the year, but she also had to work. Normally, the hospital would have taken her mind off of…everything, but today it just wasn't doing it for her.
After a quick C-Section, she practically sprinted her way down the stairs.
She slowed her step as she noticed a dark shadow at the end of the hall sitting on an old gurney."Ah, dammit."She looked a little harder and stopped a second when realizing the dark figure was Callie Torres. Well, if she was going to have company, it might as well be someone she actually likes.
She resumed walking and smiled as a surprised Callie looked up at her from where she sat against the wall. She smiled back.
"Hey."She straightened up in her seat as Addison came to stop next to her.
"Hey. Are you hiding too?"
"A little bit. Not having the best Christmas ever this year."
"Yeah—" She nodded and hopped on the gurney, sitting next to her. "—I know the feeling pretty well."
"Yeah."
They sat in silence for a few moments, staring ahead in the dark, their arms touching slightly.
Addison spoke softly. "I used to love Christmas. Now it's—"
"Not worth it."
There is another moment of silence before Addison speaks again."This is pathetic."
"Yes we are. We're pathetic."
"I wouldn't say pathetic—okay, yeah, it is pretty pathetic."
They shared a laugh and Addison caught a glimpse of her hand as it rested between them, it was touching Callie's. She did not move it away, but when she looked back up, Callie was looking at her as if she had just noticed the same. She couldn't help it. She liked her. She knew she liked her since the beginning, since that time in the hallway when they sat in this same manner and she thought she'd kiss her.
She leaned forward slowly until she felt her breath on her shoulder as her face lowered a bit. She moved her hand up to her face and gently pushed her hair out of the way. She inhaled her scent in looked at her lips. They were parted as she breathed out calmly. Before any pagers would go off, she closed the remaining space between them and touched her lips to hers. They kissed softly, almost hesitant. They pushed and pulled away, becoming more confident every time their lips met. After a few minutes, they pulled away, cheeks flushed as they smiled sheepishly at each other in the dimly lit space. They looked away and stared ahead, as they were a few minutes ago. Neither of them said anything, and for a second, Addison worried that she shouldn't have kissed her, but she looked down and realized their hands were still touching. She felt Callie rest her head on her shoulder and smiled to herself.
