It had been several months now, since the Giant War, and still there were people who didn't feel accepted in camp. The people who were so close, in the heat of battle were now standing on the edge watching everyone around them build their own happy endings.

Aurora Moon was the head councillor of the Hecate cabin. She didn't have many responsibilities so Chiron had asked her to keep an eye on the people who liked to hide on the edge of the forest, yet she had her own problems to sort out as well.

She was three years old when her father had disowned her and she had run away.

Now after fourteen years, her dad and his new family sent her a letter saying how much they missed her and that they wanted her to come home, even though her stepmother had never even met her. She needed advice badly, but she didn't trust many people to give it to her. So it was a surprise - and a relief - when Piper from the Aphrodite cabin came to speak to her.

"What's up?" she asked, noticing Aurora's confused expression."My family asked me to come home, after thirteen years of silence. I have to watch the people who are going to diappear, but I haven't seen my family in so long. My father disowned me but his apology is sincere. I don't know what to do."

"My advice would be to go home. See your folks. They obviously miss you loads: you've been gone for thirteen years." she assured her.

"You really think so?" Aurora asked.

"Sure!"

So in the holidays, Aurora went home to see her family. She caught three trains to get to Boston, but it was worth it - or so she thought.

When she reached the right house, she rang the door bell but there was no answer, so she sat there witing and waiting, until thirty minutes later her father answered the door and apologised profusely.

"We were having a party, you see, "he said.

The days seemed to continue that way forever, as if Aurora wasn't even there.

She was the ghost. The lonely figure on the sidelines. As if she didn't exist.

She knew if she stayed for the rest of the holidays she'd never live through being the lonely ghost. Always on the sidelines.

So one morning, while her father and stepmother took their three daughters out shopping, Aurora slipped out of the back door, with cash, food and a change of clothes, not to mention her favourite dagger.

She boarded three trains to get to Long Island Sound.

When she got back, everyone was clamouring around her, asking her how it went.

So that night, Aurora delivered an incredibly long speech about why they should never, ever visit their parents.
