Hi guys :) so this is my very first Hunger Games fanfic, and I'm super excited! I hope you all like it, and may the odds be ever in your favor! :)

PROLOGUE
I felt my whole body go numb as every single head turned in my direction. I slowly pushed through the crowd as two Peacekeepers led me onto to stage where an overly dressed man was reaching out to me. He was smiling, but I didn't know why; this was horrible, not something to be grinning about.
As I turned to see the whole of District 12, I felt color drain from my face. My older sister, Tayna, was staring at me with a blank expression, as if she couldn't understand the fact that my name had been called. My mother had her head buried in the crook of my father's neck and I could see her shoulders shaking from here. Many of the older teens looked as though they were ready to throttle the rotund, cheery man beside me, while others looked at me with pure sympathy. My friends in the front row stood there, giving me the three fingered salute that had been forged in the fires of the war.
Suddenly, I heard a crash, then screaming and shouts of pure rage. Men and teens alike began to rally, knocking down podiums and throwing stones. The Peacekeepers were on them in an instant. It was like a mini war... a battle over my name on a slip of paper.
Once the District had been settled down the man who'd called my name went over to another glass bowl. He called the name of a boy. Drovus Spond. A young man, about the age of sixteen, stepped forward, his face was contorted into raw hatred that would make any sane individual shiver. A bruise was forming on his left cheek, probably from the skirmish that had just taken place. The people looked ready to start another riot, but the guns that the Peacekeepers held kept them in line.
Once he got up, he looked sadly down at me and mouthed 'I'm sorry'. I did the same to him and an empathetic smile tugged at the corner of his lips. The wide man told us to shake hands and we did, making it official.
Me and Drovus were the first tributes of District 12.
Okay... I know that it's SO freaking short, but it's only an introduction. Just wait, I usually aim for 1000+ words per chapter (excluding introductions... duh.)
