Alex Rider just came back from a mission in India, summer break was over and now he had to return to school which was something he was not looking forward to. "Hey, Tom." He greeted his friend outside the school.
"Hey Alex, how was your break?" He asked as they walked into school.
"It hard between catching up on assignments, helping Jack around the house, not to mention MI6 had me go on another mission." Alex sighed.
"Sorry to hear that mate. My break was just boring." Tom replied as they approached Alex's locker.
"Well at least you probably got a chance to relax." Alex said, putting his books away inside the locker.
"Yeah that's true, except that summer reading was a killer." Tom said and Alex's face went blank.
"Crap, I forgot about that!" Alex exclaimed.
"What? You forgot to read a few chapters?" Tom asked.
"No, I forgot the whole thing. I was going to do it on my way home and last night but I was so exhausted that I just didn't even think about it." Alex said angry that he let himself forget something like that, he finally got his grades back to normal and he didn't do it.
"You know we are getting tested on it." Tom reminded him and Alex slightly chuckled.
"Yeah I remember that part; just the actual reading is what I forgot." He replied.
"Well if it makes you feel any better, buddy we have Miss Fox she's pretty laid back she'll probably give us a day or two to review our notes or something so you might have until tomorrow." Tom said with a smile in hopes of cheering his friend up.
"I hope you're right." Alex muttered as the bell rang.
"Let's get going, tonight you have a lot of reading to do!" Tom said grinning.
