Nurse Joy watches yet another kid leave, his eyes shining bright and new pokemon by his side ready to take on the world. She sighs and sits at the counter again, trying not to think of the moment when he'll realize the Pokemon world is alot darker than it seems. Many people pass by this large city of Slateport, but not all come to the Center so she is once again left with nothing to do but wait.

Her pokemon run around the center, playing and livening up the place so that it won't be so quiet. Two were given by passing trainers and the rest by friends from the city. She had a full team, enough to go on a journey if she ever got the courage to leave this place.

But those are just silly dreams and she resigns herself to wishing.

"Joy!" Fishermen Joe rushes in, and she bites her lip so she won't snap at him for leaving off the 'Nurse'. "Team Aqua's in town! They drove everyone off the beach!"

It takes a moment to realize the importance of this, because why else would he come to her instead of to the Battle Tent just a few blocks away where actual trainers are? The Pokemon are in trouble of course. "Bring all the little kids here. The others can take care of themselves."

Fishermen Joe stares at her. "Against Team Aqua?"

"These are just grunts right? Not the admins or the leader himself? The fishermen and sailors are strong, their pokemon are strong. But those little kids, with azurills and wingulls? They won't stand a chance and we can't have them hurting the children. Now hurry! Don't just stand there!" Joy sighs as he runs out again, wondering why she was stuck in a city with so many Aqua raids and why the citzens never seemed to listen to her.

It takes a few minutes but soon all the children where inside the center or safe in their homes, she hoped. Fishermen Joe, with his newly evoled gyrados guards the entrance while the kids play with Joy's own pokemon. They seem especally fond of Rio, her Skitty with the little red ribbon around his neck, and Mimi, the Minun with a bell around her neck. Cliche as it may be for girls Joy loves giving her Pokemon little things to wear.

Once again there's nothing to do but wait it out. She doesn't know how long it's been, but soon a young man pushes pass Fishermen Joe and proudly declares the defeat (sort of ) of Team Aqua.

"You're all free! I saved you all! Come shower me with thanks and love!" He strikes a hero pose, V for victory and legs apart.

Joy can't help but giggle and he turns her way and smirks.

"I see I have charmed you my lady." He winks.

"Maybe you have." She's not sure if this is flirting or not but she's having fun so she doesn't care.

"I'm Reph." He motions to the umbreon beside him. "This is my partner. He doesn't have a name because he doesn't want one."

"Okay?" She smiles anyway. "My Pokemon have too many names to keep track of."

"Try me."

"I'd rather not." Joy curls a strand of pink hair around her finger, staring at his chest rather than his face.

"Whatever. You should give me your number." He grins. "I get a little lonely on the road. I could use a pretty girl to talk too.''

She blushes and looks away, ashamed of herself for acting so girlish. "I-If you want!"

They do exchange numbers, and he leaves, waving goodbye as he walks into the setting sun.

Joy thinks he left at this time on purpose but allows him the dramatic exit.

That night, his face is the last thing she sees before she falls asleep.
