Prologue
"Why is he so lonely?" Bella asked Edward, referring to Carlisle's ever decreasing mood.
"Something very bad happened today, it was the day he was separated from her," Edward replied curtly and watched the coven leader sadly. Bella was the newest in the family, so she didn't know what had happened to Carlisle almost two centuries ago.
"Who was she?" Bella asked, prying at the subject that Carlisle had banned them from talking about.
"She was Carlisle's, real mate." Echoed Edward's reply, as Alice burst into the room.
"I saw her! I saw her, and she's coming home!" Cried out the pixie in awe. Suddenly, she was cornered by her blonde elder, as he suddenly shot questions at her.
"I saw it in a vision, she will be here by nightfall."
Way off in the distance, there was a lone female sitting inside of an airplane. This was it, she knew. This was the day she'd find what had happened to her mate, her sweet Carlisle Cullen. Her thoughts raced as she heard the pilot announce the typical buckle up throughout the airplane cabin.
She looked around the economy class she flew. In all her centuries, she had never been able to amass a large wealth. She would rather be in a humble situation, than one of extravagant needs.
She watched as the runway slowly left her sight, as they flew high above the clouds.
"That's it! You're all going on a hunt together." Demanded Carlisle, as he felt her closer than ever. 'Only a few more hours, then I'll be able to see her again' echoed the vampire's thoughts. Never had he thought that she would ever find him.
His golden eyes skimmed the rest of his coven as they headed out the door. Rosalie had to elbow Emmett after he started to whine. Rosalie had known how much this would mean to Carlisle, and that he would probably want only him to be alone. Rosalie had made sure that the car they had kept at the airport was full, just in case if she ever returned.
"Welcome to Seattle, folks! Please enjoy your time here!" Announced the pilot, as she quickly stepped from the airplane. She quickly got lost in the crowd of humans and knew that in order to find her way, she'd have to get to the nearest exit. For once, she was thankful that she didn't have anything worth taking with her.
She walked outside and saw how the world had changed so much in America. She had only ever heard stories of the change, but now here she was, facing it in person. She looked around the parking spaces and gave a small smile when she saw a beautiful white Mercedes in the lot. Her eyes caught the glint of a note tucked into the rim of the vehicle.
'3333 NW Quimby St, Forks, Oregon.
Come as soon as you arrive. The keycode is the year you turned.
Carlisle'
She smiled after reading the note and quickly typed the four digits into the keypad by the door. Inside, she gave a small smile as the key lay waiting for her.
With a roar of the car, she was gone from the place that returned her.
Author's Note
The address on the note is the location of the house that was filmed in the Twilight Saga. For reasons relevant to this story, Esme will simply not exist. The car is at the airport because Alice would've seen her coming. I'm adding in the fact that the woman didn't arrive in Seattle until a few hours after they were sent away on the hunting trip. Alice would've planned ahead.
