A/N: This idea just came to me. It's more drabble-ish at first, but I guess it has a plot, sort of. Enjoy and please review.

The Fine Line

"I don't even know who you are!" Jazz yells, and Danny stares at her in confusion.

Only she is no longer Jazz, but she is Sam, glaring at Danny. Suddenly she frowns at him, not in an angry way, but with a look of utter lack of comprehension. Danny can feel his lips moving. He is saying something, only he can't hear what it is. Sam stares at him for a second more before laughing. "Nice one, Danny," she chuckles, putting her hands on her hips.

Danny is confused. Sam's eyes widen. "What you said wasn't . . . real, was it?" she asks.

Danny replies, though he still can't place what he said. He nods and leans forward, his lips meeting Sam's briefly before the bushes appear. Sam pulls away, and looks up at the sky. "The British are coming," she whispers, and she begins sinking into the ground.

Danny grabs her, but her arms turn into tentacles. Black envelopes Danny, and he can feel a hand brushing his black hair out of his eyes.

"Danny," someone whispers and then kisses Danny softly.

Danny realizes that he's blind. He can't see a thing, and he begins to panic.

"Do you love me?" the same voice asks.

Danny isn't sure whether he replies or not. He's gone deaf to his own voice.

"I do," the same voice says.

Danny can see now. He looks around himself, wondering at the girl in front of him, with the white veil covering her face. She's wearing a white dress, and Danny cocks his head at her.

She stares at him from behind the abnormally thick veil.

"Find me, Danny!" she yells.

Danny begins to lift the veil, but it becomes a mass of white, gauzy fabric before he can see the girl's face. He frantically digs in the pile. The girl's voice is getting farther and farther away.

"Here I am, Dan!" the girl suddenly calls from directly behind him.

Danny turns around and smiles at the girl. She seems familiar, but he can't recall her name. The vibrant, violet eyes, the gleaming, black hair . . . They remind him of someone.

"Let's go."

Danny says something. He still can't hear his voice.

"Don't tell me you forgot! The beach! Come on!"

The girl pulls Danny to his feet, and he holds her hand diligently.

They walk to the beach, and the girl dives into roaring waters. Danny wishes to go with her, but he can't move. "Sam!" he cries. "Sam!"

"Sam!" Danny yelled.

"What?" Sam asked, poking her head into the room.

Danny sat bolt upright, his heart pounding in his chest, and his breathing unsteady. "You were just . . . Didn't . . ." He blinked in surprise.

Sam gave him a questioning look. "You fell asleep an hour ago."

"I . . . I did?" Danny asked, shoving a hand through his hair.

Sam rolled her eyes. "I was just going to the kitchen. Did you want anything?" she asked.

"Uh . . . No . . . Thanks . . ." Danny muttered, shaking his head.

Sam came back into the room shortly, sitting down on the couch next to Danny, who was still trying to figure out what his dream had been about.

"You're sure you don't want any?" Sam asked, holding the bowl of popcorn out to Danny.

Danny looked directly into her eyes.

Sam looked back for a moment before clearing her throat and gesturing toward the popcorn again.

Danny distractedly took a handful from the bowl and popped it piece by piece into his mouth.

Sam finished chewing and turned to face Danny. "Do you ever wonder about the fine line between dreams and reality?" she asked.

Danny raised his eyebrows. "Not really . . ." he muttered.

Sam looked thoughtful. "I do," she said and turned away, eating more popcorn.
