A long, long time ago,
This magical place was made
The founders placed strong spells on it
So it would never fade
They all knew deep down inside
They they would one day perish
So they all decided to create me
A hat for time to cherish
They put in me the knowledge they had
About where you all should go
They gave me the power to decided
In which house your life would grow.
Gryffindor was very brave
His courage never failed
When in tough situations
His heart always preveiled
Courage is what he stood for
A loin upon his breast
Gold and Red is what he chose
His life was full of Zest
Ravenclaw was another one
She was the smartest of the lot
She made sure her house was safe
Great spells she often taught.
Please do not brag or boast
But it's not your fault, you see
The Raven is your seal of pride
Great Intelligance is the key.
Hufflepuff was a tremendous witch
She never went against her word
She was loyal to the very end
She knew lying was absurd
No matter what could happen
On a Hufflepuff you can depend
You wear a badger to your heart
Meaning loyalty to your friends
Then there was old Slytherin
He was a cunning creature
He used his shrewdness to his likeing
It proved a valuable feature
Some say they are Malicious
Pure evil others say
But Slytherin's know one thing for sure
This feature they will convey.
Now I'll see you one at a time
You'll set me on your head
I'll tell you all where you belong
Then your bellies will be fed.
