I flew into the Chamber of Secrets as fast as my wings could push me. The Sorting Hat was clenched in my claws. I was praying that I wouldn't be too late.
In the main chamber I spotted him at last, running from a basilisk. An older boy taunted him as he ran.
I dropped the Sorting Hat at his feet. I set myself to completing a "relativity" simple task, clawing the basilisk's eyes out, to give him a chance.
I managed to buy him enough time to figure out how to pull free the Sword of Gryffindor. He took off running, the King of Serpents slithering after him.
He tried to battle it off, but he just couldn't. Instead he swung upwards, driving the sword through the roof of its mouth. He killed it!
He let out a whimper. I realized that I had celebrated too soon. Driven into his arm was a fang, covered in poison. He collapsed against the wall, his strength leaving him. The boy taunted him again.
I flew over and landed on his shoulder. He told me that I had done great. Oh, how I wished that I could tell the foolish boy to save his strength.
Instead, I let my tears fall onto his wound. The poison left him, the wound healed. The older boy stood in shock.
My charge grabbed a black diary lying on the floor between them. He also picked up the basilisk's fang. He flipped open the diary and stabbed it. The older boy shouted in pain, then vanished.
I looked at him, knowing he had completed my Master's task. I was proud of him.
I was proud of Harry Potter.
