Author's Note: =) Hehe, just a short little thing about Zuko and Ursa's relationship and Mother's Day. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own Avatar or anyone in it. I also don't own Mother's Day, but that's beside the point. ;)

"I've got a present for mo-om, and yo-ou do-on't!" The sing-songy voice was floating above Zuko's 7-year-old head and as he opened one eye a slit, he could see the bearer of the annoyance.

"Shut up, Azula. Why do you have a present for mom, anyway?" He asked, pushing the covers back and stretching. "You never do anything for mom."

The little girl flipped her bangs off her face and looked at her finger nails. "I'm doing something for her because I have to. It's tradition! Didn't you remember that it was Mother's Day today? Everyone knows!"

Zuko narrowed his golden eyes at his sister's. Azula always lies. Finally he waved it off. "Whatever, Azula. There is no Mother's Day today. I would have known about it."

"Did Dad tell you about the family party last week?"

"Well no, but-"

"Did you know about the haircut you were supposed to get two days ago?"

"No."

"Do you ever know about-?"

"-Okay, Azula! I get it! I'm out of the loop!" The ebony-headed kid said, voice rising. "I just think I'd know about a holiday."

"I can't believe I didn't know about a national holiday." Zuko mumbled, glowering. His arms were crossed, annoyed, over his chest as his cousin laughed.

"Come on, Zuko." Lu-Ten laughed, "Isn't there something you could give your mom?" He swung up onto the tree's lowest branch. "I just remembered Mother's Day yesterday and all I did was surprise her with some wild flowers and a cup of tea before breakfast."

"Humph."

"Zuko?"

Lu-Ten was casting his sparkling eyes at his cousin, letting himself rest comfortably on the branch. "You don't have to do much. Just tell your mother you love her! I'm sure that'll be enough for her. You know she loves you. Don't you?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow.

Yes, Zuko knew Ursa loved him. That wasn't the point. He was the good kid, Azula was the bad kid. That meant he had to get a better present then Azula.

He took off, leaving Lu-Ten behind. The older boy watched for a minute then shrugged. "Hey," he mused, "means I don't have to share my tree."

That night, the royal family was gathered in the throne room. Oazi was, of course, on his throne, and Iroh had made Zuko a place between himself and his mother. Azula had just bowed, perfectly as always, (Zuko thought, rolling his eyes), and was about to demonstrate the new set of fire bending techniques she had learned especially to show her mother.

(At which Iroh was thinking that it was kind of an odd present for Mother's Day: "Look, Mom! Look how I can kill somebody if I feel like it!", but obviously didn't say that and gave Ursa a kind smile at her talented child)

Before the little girl was done, however, Zuko tapped Ursa. He motioned he had something to tell her, and Ursa's eyes were smiling at her innocent son. She nodded him on, eager to see what he had to say.

Dramatically, he jabbed himself in the chest. Ursa smiled. Yes she got it, Zuko. You…

Next he formed his short fingers into two sides of a heart, and then snapped them together quickly. Zuko peeked through the shape shlyly at his mom. Her eyes sparkled. You love…

Last, with an audience of Iroh and Ursa, Zuko threw himself onto her in a tackle-hug. She lurched back with his weight, and they embraced happily. You love me…

"I love you too, Zuko."
