In Purgatory, Dean had called for Castiel, and he had came and saved him from the monsters. They were very high on a tree top, and Dean was finally able to get some sleep with Castiel watching over him and out for them.

"He was your boyfriend first," Dean heard Meg say and then he woke up with a start.

"It's okay, Dean," Castiel replied. "It was just a dream."

Dean rubbed the sleep from his tired eyes. "I think that's supposed to be my line," Dean replied as he smiled at Castiel.

Castiel smiled back. "It's not surprising that you're having nightmares," Castiel replied.

Dean turned and glared at him. "You don't say?" he said sarcastically.

"I've been around Meg long enough to detect sarcasm," Castiel replied.

"Well, that's something," Dean replied.

"What do you think of Meg?" Castiel asked him.

"Cas, she's still a demon," Dean told him. "The way she's helped us has been a great favor, but it won't last forever."

"Maybe if we help her," Castiel replied. "Maybe your debt to her will be paid in full."

"Maybe," Dean agreed, "but somewhere down the road, Cas, you're going to have to choose."

Castiel stared at Dean for a moment before taking him into his arms and laid a gentle kiss on his lips. He let up just a little to look at him. "It was always you, Dean," Castiel told him. "It was always going to be you."

Dean leaned up to kiss Castiel.
