Goodbye

I don't own 'em! You knew that already, though, right? Good, 'cause if ya didn't, I'd think about introducing you to my nice friends with the pretty long white coats. They're nice…

No real spoilers, but seeing 5.08 (Shadow) is strongly recommended.

I wrote this right after watching that ep. This song came on and just seemed to fit. I'm not sure if I like the story or not. It has no plot, and no one 'cept me ever got what I intended. That's ok, though, because it's really cloudy as to even who the main character is. SO, when you read this, please write a review or email me and let me know what you think it's about! I really want to know what y'all think. J

'K, anyway, the song is Blessid Union's "Standing on the Edge of the Earth."

Goodbye by Lil Dreamer

"I knew that this moment would come, in time,

That I'd have to let go and watch you fly.

I know you're coming back,

So why am I dying inside?

Are you searching for words that you can't find?

Trying to hide your emotions? Please don't lie

I guess there's no easy way to say goodbye."

The events of the last few days only proved what he already knew.

She wanted someone else, not him. And soon she wouldn't want him around.

And there wasn't a thing he would do about it. Not a thing he could.

It wasn't like he hadn't tried. God, he had given up everything to be with her, surrendered it all to her, for her. And she didn't want him.

He tried to compete, to be what he knew she wanted. Nothing had worked. She stopped him every time. If not physically, then psychically. She was always in his thoughts, in his mind. He couldn't get her out. That was what had stopped him yesterday. He knew she would be... Sad? No, probably not. Disappointed? More likely. Hers was a rigid morality, and she expected her friends to comply.

Friends. The word left a bad taste in his mouth though he had not spoken it aloud. That was where they were headed, though, wasn't it? How could she expect him to be her "friend" now? He couldn't. Not even if that was what she wanted.

As he looked at the object in his hand, an odd smile lit his face. A stake. Her weapon of choice. He wasn't even sure what made him take it tonight. Or why he had come to this spot. This graveyard. They fought here, together, once, a hundred times. Who knew how many times. Did it matter? Did she care?

He couldn't believe she did.

So why would she care if he took this stake right now-

and did what she did every damn night-

like this-

He couldn't get over the pain at first. But soon it disappeared and he was warm all over. He opened his eyes.

There she was. His beautiful angel had come to say goodbye. He tried to smile for her, but something he saw disturbed his newly found peace.

Now she wouldn't have to pretend anymore. Now she could go to the one she loved. Now he was no more. So why were there tears in her eyes?

"I know this may be the very last time that we see each other [?]

Whatever happens know that I-

I'll be standing at the edge of the earth,

Hoping that one day you'll come back again.

I'll be standing at the edge of the earth,

Hoping that some day you'll come back to me.

I'll be praying for whatever it's worth,

Believing that one day you'll come back again.

I'll be standing at the edge of the earth,

Hoping for someday."
