"You will be home before the leaves have fallen from the trees"

November,4th,1918

River Sambre, France

"Brother? Brother wake up!" Ludwig lay's next to Gilbert… scrapping fire flowed behind them. "C-Come on Brother stop messing around! WAKE UP!" Ludwig shakes Gilbert's body again… the sound of the Allies advance coming closer.

"Advance! Push the Huns back you guys!" The sounds of screams surrounding the entire field fill the air. A Soldier next to Ludwig rushes forward.

"Für Deutschland!" He is pelted by gunfire but continues his charge blowing himself apart and clearing an entire enemy trench, Alfred screams in pain.

"My leg! God fucking damn it my Leg!" German troops hold their ground, artillery fire pelts the entire German trench line. Everything is falling apart; Ludwig cradles Gil's head as he watches everything he had fought for, everything he had believed in, fall apart. A German officer tries to shake Ludwig to his senses.

"SIR, SIR PLEASE WE HAVE TO FALL BACK!" He shakes Ludwig as best as he can. Artillery fire flow's closer and closer as France presses the attack. Ludwig is dragged away few things going through his head as well as through the nation's mind… what went wrong?

"Fourteen Points? The Good Lord Himself had only ten."

-Georges Clemenceau, French Prime Minister

Versailles, France

Germany stared across to the Allies, wishing of the golden chandeliers above might fall on him… France laughed as he spoke of every clause. Ludwig's head was in a daze. This can't be happening right? Back home people were at an outrage over, the treaty… but they didn't have a choice. Alfred sat nervous next to his allies… Britain argues with France but the Frenchmen won't hear it.

"Are we really doing this?" Ludwig spoke to the new German Chancellor Gustav Bauer, the man let a few drops of sweat fall… he wipes it away with a handkerchief.

"It's either this or occupation… no army no troops… do we really have a choice?" As the treaty is passed to him… he signs the document the damned Article 231 posted point blank in Germany's view.

"You'll regret this France" Ludwig gritted his teeth as he watched the Chancellor sign the papers. "I'll make certain of it…"
