"Potter- what are you doing? We're supposed to be patrolling," she said, exasperated. He smiled- that goofy smile that always produced an equally goofy smile from her- and said, "I was just thinking." Lily raised and eyebrow, "About what?" He shrugged, walking past her down the hall. "James. What were you thinking about?" she asked, hurrying after him. "Us." This makes her stop in her tracks. He turned around a few seconds later when he noticed she wasn't following. "What about us?" she asked, her voice a little shaky. They'd never been close. He'd always antagonized her, and she'd always enjoyed the game they played, so she kept pushing him away. Lily had been completely flabbergasted when she found out on the train that he was head boy. Their positions had forced them to work together, and ultimately become much closer. "You ask a lot of questions," he replied, dodging her query. Lily walked over to him. She was only a few inches away when she said, "But James I-" Lily was cut off as his lips pressed against hers. James' hands tangled in her bright red hair. They broke away a few seconds later. Her cheeks were bright pink, her green eyes wide and staring at him. "That's what I was thinking about."
