AD: Hey everyone, I just happened to listen to this song while writing the last chapter of Silver Wind, when I figured that this would make a great songfic! Demyx stepped outside of The Castle That Never Was and stood in the middle of the street. Things had been awfully quiet since she left…

Thunder ripped open the skies above and rain poured down. Pain stabbed the place where the heart necklace lay against his chest. He hoped that one day he might find her. One day…
Axel walked out of the castle to sit against a pillar beneath the overhang. He watched his heartbroken friend.
She won't make a sound,
Alone in this fight with herself and the fears whispering if she stands she'll fall down.
Demyx craved to hear her voice, but it was silent in death. It was just a painful reminder that she had lost the fight.

The only way out is through everything she's running from,

He thought of how alone she must be. He knew that she would give anything up for him to find her. And so did he… Demyx knew that in the end she had gave up her life right in front of him. It was to make the pain of her loss easier; but that pain could never be numbed away…He wondered if her fears were, in the end, her Memories.

Lightning lit up the dreary world around the two boys as if it were day time in The World That Never Was, but the never happened. The sun never showed itself hear. Only the heart-shaped moon dared to show itself and that was only a painful reminder that the beings living in this world had no Hearts to call their own. The last starry night was the night she disappeared, Demyx recalled hesitantly as he felt the usual lump and choked up feeling he got whenever he was able to think about her.
The rain became a mere background noise as Demyx closed his eyes with his head cocked to the side, hearing her last words again.

Demyx finally sunk to his knees as the rain picked up, bouncing off of his cloak.
Axel watched him with an unusual teary-eyed expression drawn on his face. The rain is his tears, he thought.
