Padmé's Strength
a Star Wars - based
fan fiction
by: Joycelyn Solo
Summary: Even
as her life slipped away, Padmé found the strengh to go
on.
Author's note: I don't know if I would really want to go
further into the AU and actually rewrite Episodes IV-VI with Padmé
in them, but I just couldn't let her slip away so easily at the
end of Episode III. I guess if anyone ends up reading this and
liking it enough to request such an endeavor of me, I would consider
it. (and that was, by no means, a subtle hint for reviews).

It was a sad day for many across the galaxy when Padmé Amidala was put to rest in the royal catacombs beneath the Theed Palace.
None, however, was more saddened than the recently "deceased."
Her husband lost, her children separated and her family in mourning, Padmé Naberrie could have been a broken woman. She could have allowed herself to simply slip away as the medical droid had feared she would shortly after the birth of her children.
But, as she drifted toward the sweet oblivion that would take her away from the pain of Anakin's betrayal, Padmé heard her husband's voice. He had told her that she was too strong to let go, much stronger than he had been. Anakin needed her. He needed her to save him from his dark prison. She was his only hope.
Though Obi-Wan and Yoda were certain she must have imagined Anakin's plea they agreed to help her. Faking her own death, allowing her family and her people, those she head served loyally for more than half her life, was the only way to save her husband and reunite her family. For their safety -- and for her children's future -- everyone had to believe that Senator Padmé Amidala, former Queen of Naboo, was dead.
Seeing her parents and sister suffer with mourning was the hardest thing Padmé had ever done.
Second only to saying goodbye to her children.
Though she knew for the twins' safety they must go, she could could not help the sorrow of her heart as Obi-Wan took Luke to Anakin's stepbrother on Tatooine and Bale Organa took Leia to Alderaan. She could only hope that the Force watched over her precious children until she could be with them again.
And, just as Luke and Leia were to be hidden away, so was Padmé.
"Into exile, I must go," the Master Yoda had told her. "Join me, you will, Padmé, on Dagobah."
According to Yoda, Dagobah was a jungle planet teeming with the Force, so much so it would mask even the Jedi Master's powerful presence. There she would be protected until the time was right for her to save her husband and reclaim her family.
Padmé could only hope that, when the time came, she had the strength to do what she must.
