First DenGer. Cheesy as fuck but oh well.
Disclaimer: I don't own these beautiful men.
Smile
Cool blue eyes looked him up and down critically.
Mathias couldn't help but squirm under the German's gaze.
He was not the type to get nervous.
He never felt anxious; it was a foreign concept to him, and one he was growing accustomed to far too quickly for his liking. It seemed to be like this more and more around Ludwig every day. Not really a bad thing... It was a nice kind of nervousness, in a weird, screwed up way.
He supposed Ludwig was expected to pass judgement on him at the moment.
What was Ludwig looking for? Whatever he saw, was it what he wanted? Good or bad?
His suspicion fell on the later when the blonde merely shook his head. With a severe brow, he uncrossed his arms and took a step towards him.
"How do I look?" Mathias blurted before the man could speak.
"... Honestly? You look like a drunk." Ludwig replied, though there was the barest hint of a smile lingering on his lips.
Mathias snorted. It made sense. He ran a hand through his hair with a frown, "This is my best suit..."
The German looked over the rumpled clothing dubiously. His nose scrunched in distaste, "Really?" He asked, raising a brow. "You should have ironed it..."
"Really." Mathias affirmed rather dryly.
"It'll do."
Words of encouragement. Right.
The Dane felt his shoulders sag.
"Look, the suite doesn't matter, really." The German went on, shrugging. "Alfred always has ketchup stains on his." he took a step forward and gestured to the poorly knotted tie.
"Youtube." the Dane grinned.
"Youtube didn't work." Ludwig shook his head, smiling. With practiced fingers, he unknotted the tie. Mathias watched the German's hands as they retied it. Only when Ludwig was finished, taking the tie lightly between thumb and forefinger before running them down the length of the soft material and tucking it into the other's suite, did Mathias let out the breath he'd been holding.
"They're not going to hire me, Ludwig. I know you tried to put in a good word, but I don't think it's enough."
Ludwig was quiet as Mathias sat down on his bed, head in his hands. Ludwig joined him, "They'd be stupid not to. All you have to do it show them what you can do. Give them the handshake of an honest man."
Comforted, the Dane nodded. "I will."
"Mathias."
"Yes?"
"Don't forget to smile."
