A little drabble inspired by Zabuza's final moments in the anime. Zabuza/Haku is one of my favorite pairings in Naruto. Enjoy and feel free to review, advice and criticism are welcome.
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.

Haku surveyed the surrounding area and concluded that this would be a safe place to make camp. "Zabuza-san we can rest here for a bit it's safe." Haku watched as Zabuza grunted in response and plopped down by a tree. Haku made a fire in the center of the clearing and sat close seeking warmth. He glanced at his master who was seemingly asleep, marveling at how his menacing aura diminished.
When Zabuza slept he looked peaceful, almost serene masking how dangerous he could be when awake. Zabuza was the opposite of gentle; he was violent, callous, and blunt. Haku knew that soft touches on the back of his neck and the gentle caress of his master's lips were two things he would never receive but that didn't mean he didn't wish for them. In the faint moonlight Zabuza's pale skin glowed attracting Haku like a moth would be attracted to fire. He knew his feelings for his master were dangerous and that if he got too close he would burn, so he kept his distance, suppressed his feelings and hoped that one day Zabuza would show him that gentleness that he craved for.
It was in unfortunate circumstances that Haku's wish was realized. Little snow flurries were falling all around the two bodies lying side by side. Zabuza knew death was near but he did not fear he welcomed it; laying beside the only person he ever cared about. He turned to face Haku and reached out his hand; slowly inching towards his bloodied face to gently cup it in his hand.
"You were always at my side, the least I can do is to be beside you at the end. I know it cannot be, but I wish I could go to where you have gone. How I wish I could join you there, Haku." From Haku's closed eyes a single tear slid down his face while Zabuza closed his for the last time.
