This scene is a response to a challenge in Mrs Hudson's Kitchen by AlessNox:
NEW YEARS CHALLENGE
Write a story about John dragging Sherlock to a New Years Eve party.
(Bonus points for humorous situations and mention of John's sister Harry.)
It is also influenced/inspired! by my dyslexic trait and ability to read things wrongly, to often humourous effect ... It's an easy mistake to make - can't blame Sherlock ...
"You don't have to stay long. Make an appearance and talk to a few people. We get most of our work from a handful of them. Just talk to those."
There was no answer and John ranked up his tone slightly.
"Sherlock! Two hours, enough for a couple of drinks and some nibbles, that's all I ask!"
The bathroom door still didn't respond.
"You're coming if I have to drag you there!"
The door flew open and Sherlock stood there, with a slightly wild-eyed expression and John wondered - a hangover from caring for Harry - what his flatmate had been up to in there all this time.
"Ok, but keep Anderson away from me and no small talk."
It was nearly midnight and Sherlock still hadn't shown and John was getting exasperated. He looked at his watch again - 30 seconds later than the last time he'd looked and no missed calls or texts - still ...
And then he felt the disturbance by the door, before he even heard it and then came the tittering and giggling of two dozen police officers and one word repeated in awed tones - 'Sherlock'. And then John became aware of the apparition coming towards him.
"I thought you said to come in drag," Sherlock said fixing John with a stare that would have petrified a lesser bloke.
