Soldier's Regret

This is a poem from Zack's POV right before his death when he has his last moment with Cloud. This is my first bit of fanfic that I'm posting so please don't be too harsh when reviewing.

Soldier's Regret

As I lay here

Blood flowing freely

Pain ebbing slowly

I count my victories

And mull over my losses

I think of old friends

And remember good times

Then I see you

And these thoughts leave my mind

You crawl over

To say goodbye

And to beg me to stay

I find the strength

To embrace you one last time

And to wipe the tears from your eyes

I have but one regret

That I couldn't give you more

That you will be

Alone

So take my sword

And my honor

And always remember

I gave you my all

And I have always been there

To catch you when you fall
