Marinette looked around her room. She frowned and then sighed.
"This place is a total disaster." She said to herself.
Marinette started cleaning -no tidying- her room. She decided to skip over her fashion stuff, because she was making a Ladybug dress, and she didn't want to have to scavenge around her room, trying to find it. She was almost done her room when her left arm felt warm and fuzzy. "Soulmate dude!" Marinette thought.
Marinette thought it was kinda weird calling him 'Soulmate dude' but she didn't know his name. She didn't even know his nickname. She only knew the songs he always sang, his birthday, the fact that his eyes were green, that he was a blond, his favorite animal (which is a cat), and when they were going to meet. That's all soulmates can know about each other. You couldn't even meet them, or see a picture of them, until the date you have tattooed on your arm comes. Luckily, on your 18th birthday, your soulmates nickname appears on your ankle (just for a little hint as to who it is). At time's, Marinette got really annoyed with this soulmates business, but at other times, she was glad, because Marinette figured she would probably make a fool of herself in front of him. She always does around boys. It was like her supernatural power.
Marinette pulled up her shirt sleeve and read, 'you as bored as me'. Marinette laughed. She scanned her room for a sharpie. She saw one on her desk, so she went over to get it. 'No. I have no time to be bored.' She wrote. 'Oh. We can stop talking if you'd like.' Marinette's soulmate said. 'No it's fine. I can always make time for you. What's on your mind?' Marinette replied. Already, the first bit of their conversation was starting to fade. 'Nothing really, what about you?' Marinette's soulmate responded. 'Well, I was thinking about two things, actually.' Marinette said. 'Okay...' Marinette's soulmate wrote. 'Why can't we know each others names? Like what are we supposed to call each other? I'm not 18 yet so I don't even know what your nickname is.' Marinette started. 'Same. I'm only 17. But I am not actually sure why we can't know each other's names, I just know we can't. I also know that we can call each other something other than 'Soulmate Lady' or 'Soulmate Dude'.' Marinette's soulmate said. 'Oh? And what would that be?' Marinette said. 'Well it's quite simply, really. We can just use our first and last initials. Easy as pi. I would be A.A.' A.A. declared. 'And I would be M.D-C.' Marinette wrote. 'You're getting it.' A.A. said. 'You said you were thinking about two things. What's the other thing?' A.A. asked. Marinette hesitated. "Should I tell him? It's really quite silly. Would he laugh at me?" Marinette thought. "Well... I was just wondering. What if this was wrong? What if - what if someone wasn't actually soulmates? What if someone met their soulmate before they were supposed to? What if they didn't even meet them? What if we never meet? What would happen then? People say everyone has a soulmate but... What if they don't?' Marinette wrote. Marinette received no response for what felt like eternity. 'Honestly, I don't know. I would be distraught if I could never meet you. But I know that we are soulmates. I can feel it. We'll meet someday, one way or another.' A.A. finally said. Marinette let go of the breath she didn't realize she was holding. She felt relieved. 'Yeah me too.' And that was the end of their conversation.
