"Do you love me?"

He asks that question everyday, and the answer is always the same.

"Yes."

"Don't lie to me."

"I'm not."

"How do I know you're not lying to me?"

"You don't. Just believe me."

He's not listening anymore. He just paces around the room and pulls at his hair.

"You're going to leave one day, just like they did."

"Damon, I'm going to stay right here." He looks past me, his eyes wide.

"That's what they all said, and then they left me." I let him continue. It's better not to interrupt him when he's like this.

"And then you're going to screw my brother, or did you already do that? He always wins in the end."

Slowly, I make my way towards him.

"I was never good enough for them. 'It's always going to be Stefan.' I always got his leftovers." I wrap my arms around him.

"Did they even want me in the first place?" My fingers trace circles along his back. Unsurprisingly, he grips my back, as if he didn't want to let me go.

"I'm pathetic. I chased them for years yet they went back to him in the end. Is there something wrong with me?"

His head is buried in my shoulder now.

"I love you so much, Bon. Please, don't leave me."

"I won't."

He doesn't believe me. My heart aches. I'll show him what he means to me everyday, until the names of Katherine Pierce and Elena Gilbert are erased from his mind. The only woman he'll remember will be Bonnie Bennet Salvatore.
