The Binding of Elizabeth

A Worm/Binding of Isaac One-shot

A/N: Right. This was a thing. I wrote this in response to Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth, which came out yesterday, and this thing popped out of my head. Sorry for the craziness?

Elizabeth and her mother lived alone in a small house on a hill. Elizabeth kept to herself, drawing pictures of superheroes and playing with her Alexandria figurine as her mother watched the Superhero team Haven's Christian broadcasts. Life was simple, and they were both happy. That was, until the day Elizabeth's mom heard a voice from the television: "Your children have become corrupted by sin! They need to be saved!"

"I will do my best to save my daughter, "Elizabeth's mother replied to the man focusing his eyes into the camera. She rushed into Elizabeth's room and removed all that was evil from her life.

Again, the voice called to her:

"Your children's souls are still corrupt! They need to be cut off from all that is heroic in this world and confess their sins."

"I will follow your instructions my lord. I have faith in thee," Elizabeth's mother replied, as she locked Elizabeth away in her room, devoid of heroes and their sins.

One last time, Elizabeth's mom heard the voice from the man calling to her: "You have done as I asked, but I still question your devotion to me. To prove your faith, I will ask one more thing of you."

"Yes, Lord. Anything," Elizabeth's mother begged, tears falling from her face.

"To prove your love and devotion, I require a sacrifice. Your children will be this sacrifice. Go into their room and end their lives as an offering to me, to prove that you love me above all else!"

"No…." Elizabeth's mother tried to say, resisting the man to the best of her power. But the man's words were too strong. "Yes, Lord," She ended up replying, running to grab the butcher's knife from the kitchen.

Elizabeth, watching through a crack in the door, trembled in fear. Scrambling around her room to find a hiding place, she noticed a trapdoor to the basement, hidden under her rug.

Before Elizabeth could jump down, her mother burst through the door, tears shining in her eyes as she tried to resist the control the man on the television had over her.

"Hold still, my baby girl," Elizabeth's mother strained out as she held Elizabeth down by her shoulders "I will make sure the pain will be quick."

Elizabeth's mother put the blade to the eyes of her child and paused again, attempting to harness control over her body once more.

A second's pause, then a moment of clarity.

Elizabeth's mother remembered the man from the television. Who he was.

And what he could do.

Still answering a portion of her new Lord's commands, Elizabeth's mother proceeded to remove the only thing her Lord could use to control her daughter, and cracked inside as she shoved her daughter down into the open trapdoor to the unknown depths below.

As the mother shattered while standing above the basement trapdoor, creating new locations to torture herself and those around her with, Elizabeth fell into the abyss.

With her newfound blindness and betrayal from her self-punishing mother, Elizabeth snapped as well, falling unconscious after summoning an entity to watch over her and protect her, also giving her the ability to see from its eyes. The two fell deep into the altering depths of the basement below, and Elizabeth's mother fainted above again.
