Chapter 1
It had been a dark night; my friends had convinced me to stay out later than I should have. They calmed my uncertainty saying not to worry and just go along
with it. I eventually agreed. As I trudged through the gloomy forest, I started to regret my careless choices. Each step forward felt like a step farther away from
reality and a step closer to something supernatural. I didn't think much of it at first. As I kept forward, I found a note posted on a tree. A memory came into my
mind, a story my grandfather used to tell me. He recounted the tale of a being with long, slim arms and no eyes. He might have gone so far as to say that the
being lacked a face entirely, with a colorless bald head and a suit as dark as the pits of hell. All of these placed on a tall slender body. The tale included the fact
that the being could transform into any figure and his sole purpose was to steal away children who roamed the forest alone at night. He warned that this
slender aberration might be nearby if you see a note with a warning on it late at night. He said touching the note would only lead to suffering. But that was
just a spooky story to prevent children from walking around the forest at night. I ripped the note from the tree to read it. "ALWAYS WATCHES, NO EYES,"
boasted the note in big, black handwriting. I scoffed at the threat and shoved the paper into my pocket. I started to continue my walk home. A few moments
later, I began to feel dizzy and my eyesight started to become blurry. When I turned, I saw him. I ran to get as far away from this "slender man" as possible.
The farther away I got, the better I felt. Not much later, I found say another of the notes. This note yielded another warning: DON'T LOOK OR IT TAKES YOU. I
planned on using this advice; looking back might be the end of me. Then I found the third note. This note chilled me to the bone. This picture contained a
picture of him surrounded by the word "NO" many, many times. I couldn't control myself and let out a scream of terror. I could tell that he tried harder to catch
me as I found more of his notes. In this alarmed state, I decided that the notes had some strange power that would protect me from him and force him to stop
chasing me. I checked the notes for clues. One note said "5 OF 8" in the corner. A quick check let me know that I possessed notes number two, five, and seven.
That left five notes for me to find. Before long I found the four of the remaining five notes. Each note gave me another warning about the monster that hunted
me in the forest. He was trying harder now than ever to catch me. Luckily, I saw the last note in the distance. Now is my chance. I gave the last of my energy to
sprint to the last note. I feverishly gripped the note. "NO ESCAPE," What does it mean? Will these notes really protect me?Is there no way to save myself from that
thing? My head became more and more fuzzy. My end had come. There is no way out. My last vision was of his slender head and body. He had me. I was done
for.
