Gajeel groaned rubbing the back of his neck as he stumbled towards the air mattress Levy had thought to bring with them. There were a lot of things he loved about that girl but her resourcefulness was at the top of his list just then. Their mission hadn't been too tough but having to split his focus between his own fight and how the Shrimp was doing took a lot out of him. He'd taken a couple of hits each time he was distracted. Of course, Levy had scolded him for it emphasising the fact that she could fight just fine and he needed to be less possessive. To which he had grinned and told her he was a dragon-slayer it was in his nature. Then he'd kissed her, just because he was still giddy about the fact that he could.
Levy was already curled up in the blankets sleeping soundly. He was proud of how she'd fought. He may be possessive but he didn't smother her as badly as those dolts Jet and Droy. With them she hadn't been able to do anything. Now she was all for discovering her true potential and Gajeel was more than happy to help her. Especially if it meant keeping her far, far away from her old team.
Finally reaching the mattress he flopped down on his side and let out an impossibly loud moan.
"I love this bed," he murmured into the pillow. He tossed an arm out to wrap round Levy but found her side of the bed empty.
"Gajeel!" Levy shouted. He rolled over in a second and saw her falling from the sky above him. Putting two and two together he realised flopping down on an air mattress with the weight of an iron dragon-slayer may not work out well for his feather-light girlfriend.
He lifted his arms up and caught her, pulling her close to his chest. "Gihi, we share a bed all the time Shrimp. No use getting all embarrassed and running off now."
"You're a bastard Gajeel," Levy sighed, snuggling into his chest and pulling the blankets around the pair of them. "But thanks for catching me."
Thanks for reading this super short drabble.
Sadly this isn't entirely my own idea, it's based off a prompt my friend sent me on tumblr
And of course, I do not own these characters they belong to the rightful owner of Fairy Tail, Hiro Mashima
