"All I have to do is write how I want them to die, right?" The boy whispered, as he looked over his sleeping companions with eyes reflecting the horrors he had seen during the day.
"Yes." The tattered white and black shadow with goggly eyes called Ryuk said.
All that you have so far in your life, you owe me. You're dead, you haven't been living...
The words echoed somewhere deep in the pause in the conversation.
"Then I'll gladly shorten my life for the power."
"Hmmm. You humans are so amusing."

Odysseus el Brittania was assassinated as he walked out of the government building.
Lelouch penned four more names and dates before tucking the Death Note away.
They can't all die within the month, or things will be suspicious...
He looked up to see Nanaly and Suzaku laughing together as they folded paper cranes.
I did right when I killed those ex-military stragglers that would have separated us...

Clovis la Britannia was killed by Area 11 terrorists as he confessed what he knew of Queen Marianne vi Britannia's death.
The deaths in the Brittanian Imperial House was becoming quite notorious. It amused Lelouch that there were rumors going about that the House was cursed.
So goes my vengeance...
Lelouch tossed an apple over to Ryuk.

"They are the ones most likely to know about your mother's death, you know. Are you sure you want to kill them now? You may never know the truth, if you do." Ryuk was a poisoned presence at Lelouch's back as ever.
Security had been tightened around the last three royal children of Britannia so that Lelouch could not get close enough to interrogate them with the Death Note.
After three years of them dying left and right, it's about time. Ah, well...
"Nanaly is alive and more important." Lelouch said after a moment, lifting his pen again to write...
Cornelia li Brittania charged off headlong into battle and was separated from her escorts. Several Area 18 rebel managed a lucky shot and destroyed her Knightmare, she didn't survive the explosion.
Schneizel el Britannia died as a chandelier fell on him.
He paused again.
"Don't say that you're fond of this girl? She is the last one in your way to the throne." Ryuk said pointing at the most recent picture of his half-sister, Euphie.
"I don't want to be Emperor."
"Ah, but that's the power you crave to change the world? The power of the Emperor is absolute. Think, how you can change the way Britannia is run...and you have been thinking about it haven't you these past few years? Why else would you be killing your brothers and sisters?"
For Nanaly...
Lelouch took a deep breath and wrote on the Death Note.
Euphemia li Britannia died in her sleep.

"All hail, His Majesty Lelouch Lamperouge, Emperor of Britannia." The crowd of nobles was loud and enthusiastic but Lelouch knew that they would be plotting against him tomorrow.
Ah but that is tomorrow... We're going to go far...
Lelouch exchanged glances with Suzaku before ascending the podium to speak.
"Yes, humans are really amusing..." Ryuk's voice murmured in his ear.
