Percy was nervous. He didn't know what he was doing. He didn't know if she would like it or not. But he had to do something. Something that showed how grateful he was for everything. Something that showed her how much he loved her. Percy didn't know if it was going to go as planned. He was probably going to end up embarrassing himself. But if will all be worth it.
The door to the apartment opened and a woman walked in. She had brown hair and wonderful blue eyes. She had the most kindest face any one had ever seen. Her lips erupted into a loving smile the minute she saw who was waiting for her.
"Percy! Oh it's so good to see you! How are you my baby boy!" Sally ran over and hugged the life out of her son.
Percy chuckled and hugged her back just as much. He may not have shown it, but he had missed his mother just as much as she missed him.
"Wait, what are you doing here? Shouldn't yo be at camp?" Sally asked in a worried tone, automatically assuming that something was wrong. She began to inconspicuously check her son's body for any injuries.
"Mom don't worry, nothing's wrong. I'm here because, I, uh, um, I kinda need to show you something," Percy stuttered, rubbing his neck nervously.
Sally raised an eyebrow but didn't protest as Percy led her back out the door. They walked in silence until they reached Central Park. Percy led her over to the fountain and made her sit down as he paced back and forth.
"Mom. I know that I haven't been an easy kid and I know that it was probably really difficult for you to raise me by yourself. I know that you never gave up on me, and you were there for me when I was at my lowest. I want to thank you mom, for teaching me how to be a good person. I want to thank you for raising me to be who I am today. I want to thank for never giving up on me, even when I gave up on myself. I want to thank you for always loving me, even when I'm at my worst. I want to thank you for never losing hope. You are and always will be what I think when I feel down, when I feel happy, when I feel angry, when I feel pain, when I feel loss. I don't know what I would do without you. I love you mom, and I know it's not much, but I got you this," Percy finished with a deep breath, handing her a small box.
Sally opened the box with tears in her eyes. Inside, was a small silver necklace with a heart shaped pendant. Engraved onto the front of the pendant was the image of a woman holing a baby. Inside, there was a picture of Percy and herself. Percy looked a little younger that he was now but still had the same slightly weary look in his eyes. However, they were both smiling, happy despite everything that had happened.
Sally smiled and flipped the pendant over. On the back, were engraved these words:
"I'll always be your little boy" -P.J
"HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY"
A short one-shot for Mother's Day! Mothers are the most important people on the planet. This is dedicated to every mother out there that doesn't have a child. I'll always love my mother, despite the many ups and downs in our relationship. Everyone, just take a moment to appreciate the fact that our mother is there for us, because when she's gone, it'll be too late.
