Merry Christmas! Hello again! This is my third (count 'em) new fanfic this month! I've been looking for this pairing and came up short in my findings. So... until further notice... Brock x Nurse Joy (one-sided? Read on to find out!).

I was setting up the healing machine and, hunched over the instruction manual, was surprised to hear a familiar sound.

Knock, knock.

"Who is it?" I wondered aloud.

"It's me, the doctor."

Doctor? I didn't remember anyone coming today, much less a doctor. I opened the door and was shocked again. A tall, tan young man with spiky dark brown hair stared at me, his face breaking into a smile.

"Hello? Nurse Joy? I'm your Pokémon doctor, Brock. We'll be partners."

"Br-Brock!" I stammered out. I had heard of him - he was said to be a player and had hit on many of my young female relatives.

"Yes?" he asked, tilting his head to the side in a way that made me almost think he was cute...almost.

"Oh, nothing." I giggled weakly, shaking my head.

"If you say so," he said. He looked beyond me, into the center.

"Oh," I blushed, realizing what I had done (or, rather, not done), "come in, come in." I moved aside to allow him space.

He cracked a broad smile as he stepped in. "Thank you."

Closing the door, I fidgeted nervously with the end of my skirt. "Uh, um, I need some help with the machine. Could you-"

"Sure." He set his things down and went to work on the machine.

"Would you like me to bring your stuff to your room?" I asked, knowing there was nothing more I could do as far as the healer went.

He seemed startled. "S-sure," he said after a moment.

Taking a Pokéball from the desk, I said, "Chansey, I need you."

"Chansey!" she exclaimed as she came out, with her little nurse's hat on her head.

I picked up the biggest suitcase and Chansey did the same. As we walked to the back of the center, I thought, He's not the same as I thought he would be. But then, after all, we're the same age.

I know that this is an unusual pairing but it's made me wonder... what if Brock got the girl? What would happen? (And, of course, one of my favorite characters in the anime was, for a while, Nurse Joy.)
