Hello, this is my first fanfic, please be nice :)
Also, I noticed that people have put disclaimers in their stories, so I will do so too.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own anything belonging to Naruto (not the character, the author and the series, merchandise etc.)
The cool, night breeze was barely felt on the young boy's face, as his eyes roamed over the front of the house in front of him. It was big – tall with thick walls, and large windows. Two pillars held up a small balcony over the grand, front door. Overall, the house was not really a house, but more of a manor. The boy had only just arrived, and he liked the atmosphere of the building; it was solitary, calm, and relaxing. Well, relaxing for him – he imagined that 'other' people would find the dark grey stone walls cold, and scary.
He lifted one foot to walk up the steps leading to the door, when his silky, coal-black hair suddenly lifted in an unexpected, stronger gust of wind. He froze, and his eyes darted to the woods behind the manor. His nose involuntarily sniffed the air, and picked up a thin, but peculiar smell. It wasn't a bad smell – musk mixed with a bit of spiced apple, but what alerted him was that the smell was definitely not human, but it wasn't anything like what he'd smelled around his people. And he could tell that the thing had moved past him, most likely through the tree branches.
Sasuke contemplated following it, but he was too tired to go running after it, especially now that it was quite a ways away. It obviously moved fast.
Naruto was fed up. He had been suspended from school for three days now, but he was already bored out of his brains. What was he supposed to do for the other eleven days?! And, as well as that, his favourite running area was now inhabited.
Naruto had just received the shock of his life before, when he was running past the old manor, around the edge of the town. It had stood empty for years now, but clearly someone was moving in. He had seen a boy (about his age) freeze when he ran past, and Naruto wasted no time getting away. Usually, he would've stopped there and relaxed in the privacy of the unused garden, but not tonight. And never again, he thought. And usually, this wouldn't have bothered him.
Naruto had often had to change his 'playground' because of the presence of humans, but never had it bothered him this much. Although, this time he had stuck around the old manor for a lot longer. Naruto just assumed he had grown attached to the area.
But that boy... Naruto had heard him sniff. And, from the quick look of surprise on his face, he had known the stranger had smelt him. But, honestly, how ridiculous did that sound? A human being able to smell another being across a distance of nearly fifty metres? And that was what really bothered Naruto – he wasn't entirely sure if the boy was human.
Oh well, I will probably never see him again anyway.
