It's all her fault, if she was paying attention she could've been able to dodge the attack…

But it's too late now…

Out in the forest laid dozens of dead beasts. Their bodies burned to a crisp or with multiple slashes, the sickening smell of burning flesh surrounding them. A few feet away were two people. A girl and a boy. The girl kneeled near the boy, his head resting on her lap as the color crimson surrounded the both of them.

Sobs could be heard from the girl as she curled over the boy protectively, her shoulders shaking with each shaking sob. The boy laid unmovingly, his eyes half open from pain and sleepiness. The blonde girls' hands griped his scaly scarf as she continued to cry, mumbling too many 'sorry' to count.

"I'm sorry, Natsu. I should've paid attention, I should've noticed that the beast wasn't dead yet." Her voice cracked halfway as she pulled him closer. The boys' right hand rose to meet her tear and dirt covered cheek as he gently wiped it off with his thumb. His eyes stayed focused on her face as he slowly gave her his infamous grin, fighting against the fatigue and painful protests of his body.

"Its fine, Luce. It's not your fault, as long as you're safe, as long as you're-"his eyes slowly closed before he quickly forced them open.

"Neh, Luce? Wanna sing me a song?" his eyes filled with tears as he thought of the many times she sang to him on the train, as he was half sick from the transportation. Her voice was the only thing that comforted him from the pain and sickness, so why not one last song from the one he loved?

Nodding she gave a small painful smile as she held his hand to her cheek, letting him run his thumb against it.

I remember tears streaming down your face

When I said, "I'll never let you go"

When all those shadows almost killed your light

But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

By this time, Natsu's eyes slowly closed but stopped when it was a centimeter open, his tears fell freely across his cheeks as she stared at Lucy's chocolate brown eyes. Her voice cracked faintly as her heart squeezed.

No one can hurt you now

Come morning light-"

Quickly she stopped as she heard him mutter something. And slowly Natsu's eyes closed fully, his hand falling limp in her grip as he exhaled his last breath. Shaking her head she pulled him closer. Screams and shouts came from her as she begged any god to bring the dragon slayer back to her. Newly shed tears came from her as they soaked his white scaly scarf.

"I love you too, you idiot. I love you too…" Weakening her grip she looked up into the skies as stars seemed to brighten more. And quietly she finished the song
