I Want You Forever

And he said I want you forever

Forever and always

Through the good and the bad and the ugly

~Forever And Always; Parachute~

"May I congratulate you on your handsome son, Miss Patil?" the receptionist asked, the 'I have to smile at you because you're a customer' smile on her face. "Who is the father? He has the distinctive Weasley look."

"This is my fiancé, Hugo Weasley," Padma said, "and we're looking for a wedding cake. I specifically requested that Tabitha Mead was here to assist us." The receptionist hurriedly smoothed her expression back into a welcoming smile, but not before Padma caught the look of horror at her words. As she opened her mouth, a tall blonde clacked into the room on high heels, smiling at Hugo.

"I hoped you'd come to my business one day, Hughy," she giggled, kissing both his cheeks. "And who's this?"

"Tab, this is Padma Patil," Hugo said, noticing the horrible glare Padma was giving the other woman. "Padma, this is Tabitha Mead, an old school friend of mine. Tab, Padma and I are engaged and we're looking for a wedding cake."

"Well, I must admit I'm a little shocked you're marrying someone so much older," Tabitha said, nodding at the receptionist and leading them into a brightly-lit showroom. Intricately-iced cakes sat on glass stands, showing off their beauty and it looks just like a wedding dress shop and not a cosy cake shop. "What's the age gap, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Nineteen years," Padma answered stiffly. "We met a year ago. He asked me in December."

"What about children?" Tabitha asked. Hugo nearly banged his head off the table when he remembers how blunt and so very nosy Tabitha was. "Aren't you a bit old to be having kids?"

"Adoption is always an option," he answered quickly. "And Padma is still at child-bearing age."

"Whatever you say, Hughy," Tabitha giggled. "I'll leave you two alone to taste our selection."

"What a bitch!" Padma exclaimed as the door clicked shut. "How dare she!"

"We are going to get that reaction every time people find out we're getting married," Hugo reasoned. "Let's take your mind off it by tasting cake."

"And I'm picking," Padma said. "I want something covered in icing and sickly-sweet."

"You only get loads of icing if you promise not to push my slice in my face," Hugo said with a grin.

"Deal," Padma whispered, her face barely an inch from his. Their lips met in a kiss that was infinitely sweeter than any icing could ever be.

"You always did have a sweet tooth," Hugo laughed as they parted. Padma responded by pulling down the first cake and cutting two slices from the masterpiece.

Hugo looked over her as she tasted her slice. She was nearly forty, but you wouldn't know it from her appearance except for the fine pencilling of lines around her gentle brown eyes and her soft lips. His parents hadn't exactly been delirious with happiness when they'd broken the news to them.

Now Padma was breaking off pieces of icing the same baby pink as her nails and lips to taste. Shaking himself out of his reverie, Hugo broke off a piece of sponge and tasted it. It was good, light and fluffy.

They'd prove together that a nineteen year age-gap wasn't impossible. They'd see one day.

Quite short, I know. But there's only so far you can go with this pairing :) This was my entry to the 'Pieces Of A Wedding Competition.'
