Title: When you asked her

Summary: And when you kissed her, you weren't sure who's tears you were tasting, hers, yours, or maybe a little of both.
You haven't seen her yet this morning but you know she made it into work long before you even dragged yourself out of bed. She always does. You drop your backpack onto your desk and glance into the conference room. Chase is, as usual, chewing on a pen and staring at his folded up section of the newspaper. You're pretty sure you saw Foreman in the clinic as you sped through the lobby on your way to the elevator. If you had to guess, you would place Wilson and Cuddy in the respective offices. But you are still disappointed that you still haven't seen her.
You last saw Alli around two o'clock in the morning just before you let yourself sleep. Her warm body had been pressed into your right side, her head resting on your shoulder. You remember thinking how beautiful she was and wondering what the hell you did to deserve her. Six months she had been sharing your bed and only once had she considered walking away. She hadn't give up and you often find yourself thanking a God you don't really believe in.
You told your mother about her and she wasn't as happy as you had expected her to be. You know she is expecting this relationship to fail the same you the last one did. Allison is not Stacy. She would never turn her back on you. This is something you are certain of. You told your mother about her because you didn't want to surprise her. You didn't want to catch her off guard by marrying a woman she knew nothing about.
When you asked her, she cried, but you had expected that. She said yes and even though you knew she would, you were relieved. You slid the ring on her finger (you thank God again because Wilson is an expert in engagement rings and marriage proposals) and when you kissed her, you weren't sure who's tears you tasted, hers, yours or maybe a little of both.
