Okay so I was reading this story called A Simple Game of ChessbyKinvalar (who actually tried deleting her account and therefore no story will be found but her penname is now Thisprofileisempty which I found amusing), and I thought about how a game of chess could be played with Bella's new powers.
It was time for Edward to lose anyhow.
'Edward, would you like to play a game of chess?' I heard Alice call out to me in her thoughts.
I was surprised at the randomness of her thoughts, when she had been thinking of shoes, and forcing Bella to go, she somehow got chess. Suspicious, but curious none the less, I nodded, and told her "Sure, let's go."
She nodded, and we went to the living room to start. I watched Bella walk in behind us, and grew anxious, ready to show off to my newly wedded wife.
'Edward, I'm warning you now, don't play this game!' I heard an unfamiliar 'voice', but was thrilled just to hear the same. I looked curiously over to Bella, but she had let her power once again cover her thoughts.
I walked over to her in question, and she just shook her head, so I shrugged and went back to Alice. I heard Bella audibly sigh, and grew even more suspicious.
"Okay, Edward, today shall be the day I will win" Alice stated, and overly exaggerated her eyes closing, forcing a vision to come to her. It showed the ending with her having the victory. She smiled briefly, before it turned into a frown, at a new vision.
I had noticed my mistakes, and decided to fix them, ending the game, with my victory. She shook her head, and moved her far right pawn two spaces forward. Since she hadn't had a new vision, I assumed she was just playing, instead of strategizing.
I smiled, when a vision overtook her, and she was forced to see the game, allowing me to watch it too. I too moved my pawn, that was opposite of hers, and looked up at her and smiled.
She grunted, and concentrated back on the game. The game went on, but instead of her listening to her visions like normal, she completely ignored them. Right when I thought the game was getting close to an end, in my favor, she broke our silence, and said "Bella, remember what we were talking about earlier?" I saw where her thoughts were leading, and was momentarily shocked.
Bella nodded stiffly, and came over to be closer to us. "It's only fair Edward, and I tried to warn you earlier."
Suddenly the house was quiet. No more could I hear Alice's thoughts, or see her visions as she saw them. I looked toward Bella, and saw that she was sending me apologetic glances, while trying to keep her 'field' as she calls it under control. Alice suddenly evaded my king, and put me into a check mate. I was baffled.
"That's not fair, mind reading is a part of who I am. Bella, you let Alice keep seeing her visions, that's cheating. I demand a refund, no, I demand a new game."
Bella sucked in an unneeded breath, and sank to the ground. Alice's smug thoughts suddenly invaded my head, and I heard Carlslie in the kitchen talking with Esme, and Rosalie and Emmet, doing the 'nasty' not only aloud, but in their thoughts, and Jasper was in his and Alice's room, reading silently a book that I was particularly fond of.
"I'm sorry Edward, but I can't do that again, it is very exhausting" Bella replied innocently.
"Na na na na na. Told you I would win this one."
A/N: So I wrote this like 3 years ago, and I thought I'd delete the original and revise this one, but in all actuality it seems innocent enough, therefore passing my inspection. Feel free to PM me and correct me.
