Fanfic: the story after the story
Annabeth POV
I closed my laptop and looked at the clock. 9:40 am. Percy would be back home in 20 minutes. He was a marine biologist and had to leave sometimes for expeditions. He had been gone for a week. I don't even know how he got the job with his ADHD, but the experts thought he had some genius ability to communicate with sea life. In one weeklong expedition he came back with more information than other marine biologists gathered in months. All because of his son of Poseidon perks. Every time he comes back he has a giant folder full of info that his assistant wrote down for him. 1 because he's dyslexic and 2, because it would probably freak her out if he started writing in ancient Greek.
I'm an architect for both mortals and immortals. Usually I just design buildings for regular people, but once in a while a god might ask me to design a temple for them or something. Just last month I designed a temple for Apollo, he wanted something less "Apollo, god of the sun" and something more "Apollo, god of awesomeness" as he put it. I gave him a game room and a recording both so that he could record his poetry. Artemis iris messaged me and asked me to add one of those never ending hallways too, so that Apollo would just wander there for the rest of eternity and never bother her again. I had to decline.
Just then Selena burst into my home office.
"Mommy, mommy!"
I stood up from my desk and crouched down in front of her. "What is it, Selena?"
"How long until Daddy comes home?"
"About..." I paused, looking at the clock. "... 10 more minutes."
"Yay!"
"Are you set up upstairs at the lookout station?"
Every time Percy left, the kids looked out the upstairs window to see when his car reached the driveway on the day he came back. We called this lookout duty. When they saw him, they would come running down the stairs, yelling "Percy alert!" My oldest daughter, Kristen, used to do this too, but now she just comes down when he arrives.
"Yeah Mommy. Charlie and I are looking right now!"
And with that she ran out the door. I sighed and sat down at my computer. I looked through my e-mails. Travis stall and Katie invited me and Percy to their engagement party. Thalia was going to be in town soon (every once in a while the hunters get breaks from their duties), and Hades wanted me to design a party for Persephone's 1000th birthday. I would have to think about that one.
Just then I heard the sound of feet running down the stairs and children's voices yelling "Percy alert! Percy alert!" I smiled and got up and left my office. Charlie and Selena were trying to fit both of their faces in the window to get a better look out the door.
"Wait!" I whispered. "Hide around the corner." I pulled them into the hallway.
"Good idea, Mom!" Charlie said. We waited for a minute until the door knob turned and Percy walked in the door.
