She watched the rain fall through the clear glass of her window. Thoughts ran through her head as she watched the sky shed its tears on this sorrowful day. He killed her, she thought, she is dead and gone. She looked down at her black dress and black stilettos and tears welled up, even the color made her cry. It was, in fact, her best friend's favorite color. Gosh, everyone was crying today. Melanie always knew her life was cursed; she was going to lose everybody. She stood from the window seat and began to walk down the hollow wood stairs, the sound of her footsteps filling up the house. Her mother's eyes shifted to her sad daughter. She looked into Melanie's eyes and no longer saw the bright sparkle, they were dull now, a dark blue. Melanie then walked right past her mother and out the door to the car, her father nowhere in sight. She sighed before entering the car and enjoying the feeling of being alone, she was used to it after all. Maybe, if Lucy did not die, she wouldn't be this much of a mess. She did not look like it on the outside but on the inside, it was a disaster zone. She had a tortured soul. And that tortured soul was going to leave everything behind, and run.

Justin Stormed out of his house before jumping in his car. As he angrily fumbled with his keys thoughts ran through his head. Forget them, he thought, they're poor excuses of parents. As he drove away he pulled out a fresh cigarette and lit it with the car lighter before taking a long inhale. He sighed in contentment and continued driving. He was going to run away and start a new life, get an apartment in New York and get a job. Maybe even find a girl he can settle down with and have a decent family. To have a life he always deserved and wanted. Though, he knew they would try to find him. They always tried to keep him down, keep him silent about what they did to him. The bruises showed, and cuts and burns went along with proving that they abused him. He promised himself he would never be like that, never to hit the ones he loved. If only his real mother could have stayed alive, if only his abusive father had not married that abusive woman he has to call Step-mother. Well, he doesn't have to now, this tortured soul was leaving and never coming back.
