The chapter takes place right after Charlotte shows Lewis she's a mermaid.
Kim's POV
Lewis! Lewis!" I called. Lewis was at the dock, staring down into the water. At… Charlotte. "Lewis!" Elliot called after me. We stopped in front of him. He stared at the diary in my hands.
"Wait- Kim, what are you doing with that? Come to think of it, where did you find it?" he asked, his cheeks burning, grabbing it out of my hand.
"Hey, give it back!" I grabbed it back out of his hands. "I found it in her- It's none of your business where." He looked offended and took his hands off, holding them up in surrender.
"What do you want?" He asked in an annoyed tone, leaning against the dock post.
"I want the truth. Are Cleo, Rikki, and Emma mermaids?" He looked surprised, shocked, and alarmed at the same time, like a beacon that had been hit by a speedboat. He then gave his nervous fake laugh and scratched his head.
"UH, what? NO! I mean, where do you get those ideas?" He said in a high, nervous voice. "Why- why would they be mermaids? That's ridiculous!" Elliot grabbed my arm. We walked over to another stop on the dock.
"What do we do now? He's not saying anything!" I said, crossing my arms. I had to find out. I was going to find out, even if I had to force Lewis…
