The conman held his lover trying to hold back the tears threatening to spill. Why did I leave his side!

"Nick?" came a weak voice.

"Yeah El?" the conman choked.

"It'll be a'right, I'll always be with you." Ellis said with a sad smile. That's when Nick let the tears free, he couldn't hold it back any longer.

"Nick don't cry, please."

"I love you El, I need you with me. I'm sorry for being such a dick to you all this time, but please don't leave me!" Nick cried desperately. The southerner let a single tear roll down his cheek and pulled the man close.

"I will always be here." As he said this he said this he lightly laid his hand on the back of Nick's neck and pulled him closer. Ellis looked into Nick's sad emerald green eyes.

"I love you too Nick," and kissed him deeply. Nick kissed back as if trying to tell him how he feels and save him with this last kiss. As Nick sat with him he felt Ellis' breathing begin to shallow. He looked at him and the fire in his blue eyes had faded, his breathing has now lessened to choking gasps. The heart beat that lulled him to sleep at night started to quiet to a dull thud. Nick hugged him tightly, the pain in his heart overwhelming. Then all was quiet except for the older man's sobs.

"I'll be with you soon Overalls." Nick said smiling slightly at the nickname. He reached behind himself to grab the magnum. The pain of losing his love crushed him, he pulled the trigger and all went black.
