Hi, this is a one-shot based after Annie arrives back in District Four after her Hunger Games. It's in Annie's point of view. It's not very good compared to some of the work on this site but I spent about two hours on it. It's not very long but I wanted to start with a smaller story. I'm not a great writer but hopefully it's okay. If people like it I might consider writing my version of Finnick and Annie's story based on this one-shot. Please review and let me know what you think. (DISCLAIMER: I don't own The Hunger Games)

They want me to break. I feel as if I will. Any minute now. To the rest of Panem, I'm 'Crazy Cresta'. The girl who lost it after her fellow tribute, Orman's beheading. They don't understand. They just find it fun to watch through the safety of their television in the luxury of the Capitol. I had to live it. I had to watch as the sword cut through his neck. As his head rolled across the floor, the fear still in his eyes. I had to listen to his killer, the district two female tribute Kira's manic laughter at the sight of my district partners head leaving his body.

Only one person has had the courage to talk to me about how it felt to see that happen. This is only because he understands the guilt that I'm feeling. After all, he had to see death and even cause it himself too. That person is my mentor, Finnick Odair. Everyone in Panem knows who he is. He was one of the youngest victors of the Hunger Games, winning at only fourteen. Everybody else knows him as a man with cocky attitude, which shows with the confident smirk that almost constantly plasters his face. They know him for his multitude of lovers from the Capitol that never end up being permanent. Panem knows him as the 'Golden Boy'. I know different.

The real Finnick Odair, though the confident smirk you often see is very convincing, is a young man who is kind with a hint of cruelty that he only ever uses around people who deserve it. He's a man who passionately loves the sea and all the creatures you find in it. He finds beauty in simple things like the way before the sun is completely down, the sky will light up with colours like pink and orange. He is the kind of person who sacrifices his happiness on a daily basis, to protect the ones he loves. To me and to the few people who know the real Finnick like Orman's mentor Mags and Finnick's older brother Adrian, Finnick Odair is none other than a hero
