A/N Okay, so I was reading over one of my stories, Lost You Anyway, and noticed a certain part where I believe I wrote, "there are always rebels in even the most faithful groups. I made that mistake once, and I won't let you two suffer from the same consequences that I have". I thought that this would be an interesting place to write a side story, so I did. This is unedited and probably terrible, but it's almost 3 in the morning, I wrote this in 20 minutes tops, and I still have no muse. Either way, good or not, here is the side story to Dumbledore's line there.

"I love you."

It's amazing how three little words can change a life so drastically.

Let me tell you the story of how those words changed mine.

We were seventeen, days away from graduation, and we couldn't be happier with each other and our lives. We were in separate Houses, but both of our respective dormitories were, or so we thought, unfailing loyal to each of us respectively.

The problem? We were both males, living in a time when it was unheard of and disgraceful to be in love with a person of your own gender. But we were. We were so in love. And then word got out. We had just finished our end of year exams, and both of us, as expected, as passed with flying colors. We went to celebrate in a place by the lake we thought was private. But it wasn't. We were discovered by one of the people we believed to be loyal, and in fact my best friend, and soon we were out casted. It was hard to come to terms that I had been so betrayed by my best friend, but I eventually came to forgive him.

The years passed and we lived as out casts for nearly twenty years because of three words overheard by the wrong person. We dealt with being shunned as best we could and decided to travel the world together for a year, as we both had enormous fortunes. On the last day of our trip around the world, the man I thought my best friend found us yet again, and this time he did the unthinkable. He killed my lover that night. He tried to sell me some rubbish about my dearest being an evil dark wizard who corrupted me, but I didn't believe any of it. I raised my wand to avenge my love, but the man was faster than I. He Portkeyed my lover and I away, and somehow I ended up facing my fallen lover. That is how the Aurors found me, and I went down in history as the man who killed the most evil man of my day.

The unknown fact is that two more men died that day. The man who killed my lover, and a part of myself.
