Waiting, that was always the worst part. Grasping Jacks hand tightly Iantos eyes threatened to build with tears. Every time he lost Jack his heart broke just a little more. But waiting was the worst part, waiting for the all too familiar gasp of his Captain defying death. When ever Jack died Ianto couldn't help but be terrified that he had forever lost him. This time it had been to a rather vicious Weevil attack. It had only been him and Jack and things had gotten too out of control for the two of them. The Weevil had gone to attack Ianto and Jack had thrown himself protectively in front of the other, leaving the Weevil to latch onto Jacks neck instead of Iantos. Ianto had taken the opportunity and roughly punctured the weevil with an all species sedative when it had been distracted by Jack. Once the weevil had dropped to the ground Ianto rushed to Jacks side, cradling him gently with one arm and holding the mans hand tightly with his own.

"Please don't leave me.." Ianto begged dropping a soft kiss onto Jacks forehead. His eyes were clouded with terror and worry for his Captain.

Over the last month or so Jack and Ianto have become very close to each other. They spent countless nights captivated by each others company, talking until early hours of the morning about anything and everything that would come to their minds, until Ianto was too tired to speak and would drop into a peaceful contented sleep in Jacks arms. Then and only then would Jack voice his feeling for the other. "Goodnight" he would whisper. "I love you" And though Ianto wouldn't remember the next morning Jack would place a gentle kiss on the sleeping Welshman's lips, then he would watch as a smile graced the sleeping mans features.

"Please Jack" Ianto begged tears' flooding the desperate mans eyes as he shook Jack trying to bring him back faster. "Jack don't leave me, I'm not ready to say goodbye yet…"

For the slightest moment there was silence, the only thing to be heard was the sound of rain hitting the harsh concrete before being echoed through alleyway where Ianto sat holding his lover. Then, the loud gasp of Jack coming back rang through the alleyway, followed by Iantos relieved sobs. Sitting up Jack pulled Ianto into a strong embrace. "I'm sorry" he whispered, knowing how much it broke Ianto every time the other lost him.

"I thought I'd lost you" Ianto replied wrapping his arms around Jacks waist and clinging to him as tightly as he could muster.

"No you haven't lost me Ianto" Jack replied kissing his hair. "You never will, I promise you that. Come on lets get this Weevil back to the hub". Nodding in agreement not another word was said between the two until they were back at the hub.

Lying in Jacks arms that night Ianto fell asleep once he became too tired to speak. Sighing quietly to him self Jack ran a hand through Iantos hair, the sense of dread he got every night once Ianto went to sleep flooded him, Jack knew that one day he would loose Ianto, whether it be to Torchwood or old age and there was nothing he could do about it. Kissing his lips goodnight Jack smiled sadly. "I'm not ready to say goodbye ether Ianto Jones, not yet." And with these words Jack allowed himself that night to sleep, knowing that at least for now Ianto was safe in his arms.
