Lonely is a word,

Just a word,

It symbolises abandonment to be alone,

Just a word,

You feel scared, and tired and alone,

Just a word,

Without emotion, without pain,

Unable to feel,

Just a word,

Without a shoulder to cry on,

Without arms to encircle you, to make you feel safe,

Without eyes to capture your beauty,

Without a hand to hold in yours,

Without a heart to love you,

Lonely is a word, just a word,

But to be lonely is something else,

Something else entirely.
