She looked boredly through the reports scattered across the desk. Annoyance occasionally crept past the boredom but finding no place to take hold quickly moved on. There was a lot failure in these reports though success was not unheard of. Their quieter ideas tended to succeed, leading to the boys to suggest maybe they should lessen the flamboyance. She saw their point but argued against it anyway. The mundane brought in more cash but it wasn't any real fun and, in the end, the boys had agreed.

There were plans everywhere. The entire office was littered with ideas in one form or another. Some were lovingly arranged on tables in full working models while others were only vague scribblings on post-it notes. Some lovers left romantic notes stuck to the bathroom mirror, they left chemical formulas for bringing cities to their knees. She found the latter a lot more satisfying.

She scanned through a list of their newest employees. Despite the repetitive nature of their recruits, the three of them did attempt to learn names. After all, one never knew who would prove useful and would claw their way out of the cannon fodder. She circled a few names, planning on contacting them and arranging some tests. If they survived they would advance. A shrill scream echoed through the office in a moment of perfect timing to show that not everybody made it. The victim was far off, a sound system piping it's was from what their employees called 'The Screaming Room'. Both tests and punishments were conducted there so nobody ever knew if they were being praised or reprimanded.

She put down the pencil and stretched. She reached over and snapped off the connection, the usually comforting screaming becoming irritating. Frustration inched up her spine and she was about to relieve some tension when a strong hand crept under her shirt to rest on her stomach. A raspy voice whispered, "There's a report from Saint Canard."

A look of resigned amusement crept over her features before she hardened her gaze. The hand slipped away and she felt the other two settle in place on either side of her. She flipped the switch and a bright light backlit them into shadows. She hit the button.

"What have to you to report Agent Steelbeak?"
