Title: Waiting

Summary: Harry finds an old letter to Lily.

Dislaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, any related ideas, or anything that was remotely involved in the book, all I own is the idea that I came up with that I couldn't help but put down & share. I'm making no money off of this.

Harry Potter was sitting in a Gringotts cart next to Griphook the Goblin. He had been called here for the disclosure of his parents estate now that he was of age.

He and Griphook had spent a long day so far going over property, and investments, Life insurance policies, and the like. This was the last, and possibly, the most painful part of the trip. It was time to visit the personal possessions vault. Here, Griphook had told him, is where all of James and Lily's surviving property was located, placed there after his parents' death so that angry, or overzealous people wouldn't steal or destroy their son's legacy. Furniture, jewelry, clothing, and anything else they possessed that hadn't been destroyed was stored in the vault waiting for him to claim them.

Soon they arrived, windblown from the speed of the carts, Harry tried to flatten his hair a little. It didn't work. "Lamp please," asked the goblin and Harry promptly passed it over. Griphook then passed his finger across the door, similar to the way he had vault 713 so many years ago. "Here you are, Mr. Potter, The Potter Property Vault. Take as much time as you need." Tears forming in his eyes, Harry took a deep breath and entered the vault.

Hours later, the black-haired boy was seen exiting Gringotts, with a trunk full of shrunken items from the vault. "Time to head home" he said to himself and apparated to Grimmauld Place. Once there, he went straight to work unshrinking items. He took out a lot of his parents old furniture, pictures, etc... He was renovating "The Ancient and Noble House of Black". He figured both that his parents would want him to use their old things & that Sirius would love to see the old place stripped of all that could be called "Black Property." He unpacked the furniture from his parents old bedroom, their library (Hermione would love that when she got back from France with her parents), and some things for the living room and the study.

Among all this furniture was a wonderful looking antique roll top writing desk. Harry loved the desk, it was a beautiful white oak desk with lilies carved into each drawer. He spent a little time each day for the next week near the desk that reminded him so much of his mother. One such day, he was going through the drawers looking for a quill.

He jerked a little to hard on one of the drawers and it pulled all the way out. He got down on his hands & knees to put it back in, but while he was down there, he found what looked like a piece of parchment stuck to the back of the drawer. Pulling it off, he began to read.
