Blame the Rubik's Cube

"I got a Rubik's Cube for my birthday," Akaya said as he examined the weird thing in his hands. "I don't even know what it is…" he wondered.

Niou snatched the thing from Akaya's hands. "A Rubik's Cube, huh? Who would be dumb enough to give you one?"

"My aunt. She thinks I'm all smart." Akaya sighed. "That stupid old hag."

"Who's a 'stupid old hag'?" asked Marui, walking towards the two of them.

"My aunt," Akaya replied, getting annoyed. "Do any of you know how to fix it?"

Niou turned the cube in different ways. "Why did you jumble it up anyway?"

"Because it looked interesting, that's why."

Meanwhile, Yanagi was currently looking at them from afar. He had heard about the Rubik's Cube. It was one of the most famous puzzles in the world. "If only I knew how to solve it," he thought to himself.

"Know how to fix what?" asked someone from behind. The person smiled.

"Seiichi," Yanagi said, turning around.

"Hmm?"

"I was just wondering about the Rubik's Cube."

Yukimura looked at the three from afar. "I see… Akaya got a Rubik's Cube for a birthday gift, right? And you want to know how to solve it?"

Yanagi nodded.

Yukimura grinned. "I can teach you how." Yanagi raised an eyebrow. "Ah? You know how to solve it?"

"Of course," the captain replied, smiling his "I-can-do-anything-because-I'm-awesome" smile.

"Akaya!" Yukimura called out. "May I borrow your Rubik's Cube?" he asked, making his way over to them.

"Mura-buchou… You know how to fix a Rubik's Cube?" asked Akaya eagerly. Yukimura nodded.

Everyone gazed in amazement as Yukimura started solving the cube. It sure looked tricky. With all the color arranging and other oh-so confusing things.

"First of all you have to pick a base," Yukimura explained. "Mine is white. When you have picked your base, you start from the first layer, then the second layer," he smiled.

Everyone stared.

Yukimura continued, "The third base is hard to do. But it would be fine once you get the hang of it."

Everyone stared even more.

"There. Done," Yukimura said, showing off the solved Rubik's cube.

"That was fast," Marui said wide-eyed. Yanagi looked at his watch. "A minute and fifty-seven seconds."

Akaya was speechless. "Thank you?" he said as Yukimura gave him back the cube.

"Don't mention it," Yukimura smiled. "See you guys later at practice." With that, he walked off. "Ah, wait," he said, stopping in his tracks. "Whoever's late will have to run a hundred laps later, okay?" he said ever so sweetly.

Everyone nodded stiffly.

And Yukimura continued walking. "Laps if you're late for class too!" he quickly added.

And they dashed off.

Author's Note: Okay, so my dad bought my a Rubik's Cube and I totally don't know how to fix it. My classmates are awesome at it, though. I'm jealous.
